Bro-Tec vs Kubota Mechanical Thumb

Have been reading the Hydraulic Thumb thread, and wondering what everyone thinks when comparing the Bro-Tec vs the Kubota mechanical thumbs? Need to make a decision within the next few days for my BH77. Which is better?

Also thinking about buying the Bro-Tec ripper tooth. Got lots of stumps to get rid of. I haven't seen any other options for the BH77. Any other resources would be greatly appreciated.

I have had both thumbs on a previous BX 24 (BroTek) and have the Kubota thumb on my present BX 25D. I would say they are equally, functional as a mechanical thumb can be. I also have a BroTek ripper tooth and have enjoyed its use both for ripping stumps and roots as well as trenching (with the BroTek trenching attachment that fits on the ripper tooth.) Great products! You can't go wrong with either one.

The Bro-Tek ripper tooth is fantastic. I've been ripping through cedar tree roots with my BX23 backhoe and the ripper tooth, which then enables me to use my bigger tractor to push the trees over and pick them up with the grapple. The ripper tooth works great, especially in our heavy, black, gummy clay. If I was using the backhoe bucket in this gummy clay, I'd have to dig the clay out of the bucket after every bucketful.

Thanks for the replies guys! I ended up going with the Kubota thumb, and bought both the Bro-Tek ripper tooth and trencher combo. Got a message from the Bro-Tek guys that they won't be able to get to the ripper tooth for another 1.5 weeks since the shop is on vacation. I guess the fit between the Bro-Tek and Kubota thumbs is different.... I'm in no super rush, so the anticipation is making me wait.
