I am looking around at 14K dump trailers and Bri-Mar and Sure-Trac seem to be the only ones that are easily available around here. Other than some forest river stuff:mad:

Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on either company. I would like a 14 foot dump trailer. Both companies seem to build nice HD low profile ones. I don't know why low profile is so common?

Any help would be great!

I sold a 14 Bi-Mar trailer to one of my customers and he loves it. The trailer weighs about 4,200# empty so that gives you right at 10,000# or so payload. It has 4 heavy tie down rings in the bed and also has the 3 way gate and pull out ramps. He pulls it with a 2008 F-150 and prior to that he used a 2005 Expedition. His trailer is about a 2004 model.

The only complaint I have is I was doing routine maintenance on it for him and found 1 of the 4 wheel bearing assemblies was missing the cotter pin. I am sure it was just oversight at the factory. Luckily it was on the passengers side and it always has a tendency to tighten as you drive while the drives side would loosen.

I have a Bri-Mar tandem dually that I bought used. I feel that the wiring could be a bit more protected but admittedly have had no problems other than the flat steel sheeting that holds the tail lights gets mangled if I do not pull ahead while dumping. But then wiring on most trailers is not what it could be due to the competitive pricing.

As for the welding, cylinder sizing, etc., etc., no complaints at all.

I've got an 04 Bri-Mar #7000 dump. It has been a great trailer for me. Its well made, and I've had zero problems with it.

I have an '02 Bri-Mar 6x10 10K pound that I purchased used. It pulls and dumps as it should. It seems a little slow on the down stroke, but it is a single acting cylinder.

We run with EZ Dump trailers for my landscape business . They seem to be more money but they were the only ones that came with the 4 D rings for tie downs and ramps already included in the price . A one piece floor was something that is a must for any user, the material has less to stick on. I also find that the steel is thicker in the EZ Dumps. My dumps came with a powder coat finish , but it dosen't last mush more than 2-3 years and then blisters. Other than that we have been running them for 5 years trouble free.

Brian,

Can you get access to PJ, Cam Superline or Belmont? I think you'd like them better.

I first looked at Brimar and liked them but my local dealer changed lines and went with the Cam superline, I was not to impressed.
Not sure why he changed, if he thought they are better or just cheaper.

I ended up buying a EZ Dumper out of state, they do cost more but seem, to be well built, especially the fit and finish, it was the best I'd seen.
Everyone has been talking about the poor wiring in some of their new trailers, so I looked at mine and it looks perfect, no butt splices all automotive type connectors, all holes thru the frame or axles are sleeved with rubber. Mine came with ramps D-rings and power down on the pump.

JB.

I see some EZ dump trailers on the road, but cannot find them for sale local.

I might have found a PJ dealer about an hour and a half away. Think its worth the drive Duanne?
