For those who consider him a friend, Brent has only had limited access to TBN recently because his unit was called to active service a short while back. He's been training to go overseas. As with some of the other TBN members, or family members of members who are overseas, I will be sending him some care packages so he and the folks in his unit have things to remind them of home, if he allows it, I will post his APO box address so you can do the same if you choose to do so.

I just received this from him a few moments ago:
We made it in tonight around 9:00. We made stops in Gander New Foundland and Budapest Hungary. It is 3:30 am and I am now about to go to bed.

Should you talk with him again, give him my best. We want every one of our young men and women to return home to their families safe and sound.

Brent, good luck, GOD bless, and thanks!

I did a tour in Iraq in OIF 1 (Balad, Iraq). Trust me when I say the packages I got made my stay that much easier. I had so many packages the Fire Marshall declared my area fire hazard!!!!!!

Here is an update from Brent, not sure how often I'll get these, and I certainly won't be posting all of them, but at least we know he is there and he is safe and getting settled in.

It was 3:30 am when I wrote that last e-mail. Since then I have had a
meal and a few hours of sleep. The plane ride over was not as bad as I
thought. The total travel time was about 18hrs. We made a stop in
Gander New Foundland for about an hour. The temp there was 54 degrees.
When we got back on the plane the flight attendants started the seat
belt and oxygen mask talk again and when 1LT Brad Stark started imitating
them, she asked if he wanted to do the talk. So he took the props from
her. See the attached picture. Gander was nice after being in south MS
for 2 months. We were then supposed to go to Ireland, but that stop
was cancelled and we went straight on to Budapest Hungary. I had heard of
Budapest and thought it might be a big city. It was spread out, but it
did not have any really big structures. 4 to 5 story buildings that
looked like apartment complexes were the biggest buildings I saw. The
country side was pretty though. We were told to stay on the plan
e when we landed. However, a few people saw fit to step out onto the
steps to stretch. I was at the bottom step talking to our commander and
ask him if maybe one foot on Hungary would hurt anything for a picture.
He said one foot wouldn't hurt. See attached picture. Then Brad said,
"surely 2 feet wouldn't hurt". Within about 5 minutes there were about
50 people off of the planes smoking and picking up Hungarian rocks.
Then a guy in a little go kart sized truck came driving up and signaled
for us to get back on the plane. We got to Kuwait City around 9:00 or
10:00 pm local time and the blast of hot air that I felt when I stepped
off the plane was more than I expected. I thought I had stepped off
behind the jet exhaust. We then took a miserable 3 hour bus ride on a bus
that was obviously designed for people no taller than 5'6". We
unloaded our luggage and got to our tents. They have a floor and very good
air conditioning.

I have been lucky to be able to get to a phone today and get access to
the internet. It will still be a couple of weeks before I have a permanent
mailing address for sending packages/letters. I will let you know when
I get there.

We have other members there too. And children of members. I know that member NIXON has his daughter Tina stationed there now.
