Breaking Big Tire Beads

I've never busted the bead while the tire is still on the tractor, but what do I know?
Here is a crude, but simple method I used with the tire off. I didn't think of using the loader. Instead, I used a farm jack against the tractor frame, opposite side of where the tire came off. It will not lift the tractor up, but will pop the bead.
Good luck getting them back on though. I really struggled with that part and have done a few. But the last set of new tires, I took in to a tire shop to have the old ones removed and new ones put on.

Here is a link for dismounting, mounting while the tire is on the tractor using a bead-cheata (or a variation of the bead-cheata). Also covers liquid ballast.

Changing a Tractor Tire - Dismounting | Gempler's

Wow.. Sure makes it look easy. As long as you spend the $500-$600 for the all the tools required.
I love the jack stands that guy has.. I wonder if HF has any of those on sale? :D

The Gempler's piece didn't say anything about making sure the tube is right side out.

This is the one I bought about 5 years ago, but I think I paid around $130-$150. It's gone up in price a little since then. Mine has definitely paid for itself. Works great for breaking beads.

Thank you Mlauk. That is pretty much what I was looking to find. The price has risen to 200 for the tool, but I think that is a fair price for what it is. Others have similar tools for more, I think this is a fair value. The site that it is on is really nice to. I spent an hour going through it and hardly scratched the surface. Some of the prices they have are better then A&I. It is definitely in my favorites list now.

If you know anyone with a vertical log splitter you could use it, Just use a piece of firewood to protect the wedge from damaging the tire!
