The rear wheel different lock is behind your foot where the forward and reverse pedals are you can step on the rear of lock? But then you can稚 push on the forward or reverse pedals

What Am I not getting in this situation?

Never thought about that as I have always had geared machines. Does sound challenging. You would think they would use an electric lock system. My 85 international 5488 had a switch on the floor that was just like the old dimmer switches in automobiles. Worked just fine. No reason they could not have done something similar located on the left or a switch on the console.

Well if you are old enough to carry a cane,
youcould mash the lever down then use your cane to hold it as you use the pedals. :drink:

I feel for you guys. I've not understood why they don't relocate the diff lock to the same position they use on the cabbed 25 series. On mine, for example, the diff lock pedal is on the left side, just in front of the seat on the floor pan. It's easily engaged with your left boot heel, leaving your right foot to run the pedals.

It's dumb that they put it on the right.

I use my left foot to operate it. Or I unlink the brakes and brake the wheel that's spinning.

An electric diff lock would be nice but mechanical one often needs some fiddling. Normally the tractor should be stopped before using it but sometimes it won't go in without turning the wheels very slightly. With electric you wouldn't be able to feel that and it would just try to force it. Of course if they could also engineer the gears to engage easier....

I used the electric lock on the 5488 all the time. Never was a issue. Most of the time it was in a hard pull when I engaged the lock. The 5488 was a 205 HP tractor turned up to 235 at the PTO. It definitely can be done.

The 3520h has the same setup. Perplexing but I just suck it up and manage to shift myself and jam it with my left foot on those rare occasions I need them during slippery winters. It’d be nice if it can be modified for easier use.

Wear a big ole clown shoe on your right foot ? :D

Similar situation with split brakes and hyro pedal....it's one or the other....not both. Having owned a straight gear drive on first tractor, a hydrostat on the second, my current tractor is gear drive with shuttle shift, which to me makes the best use of things like the differential lock and split brakes with the handy forward/reverse of the shuttle shift. I know a LOT of folks love hydrostat drive, but I'm not a huge fan of them. I find my neighbors Kubota especially hard to operate the pedal...it's very awkwardly made.

I hear you Andy,

I don't care for the hydro pedal arrangement on the Kubota. The front to back rocker is awkward for me to use, especially if I'm turned slightly sideways in my seat to watch/operate something off the back end. At least on the Branson hydro the forward/reverse pedals are side by side, and in my opinion, easier to "get ahold of" without stopping and looking down at your foot first.

About the only time I use my split brakes is in winter time, when I'm clearing snow or driving on ice. Makes turns very easy to do.
