I recently purchased a new Branson 3510 along with a Kodiak 5' bush hog. Last weekend I took the tractor down to my property to begin clearing a future homesite. After 2 hours of bush hogging noticed my gas tank showed empty and before I had time to check to see what had happened the tractor stalled. To make not to long a story shorter what had happened was that during the course of bush hogging a branch had apparently wedged itself between the "exposed" fuel lines underneath the tractor and the oil pan and disconnected the fuel line going to the fuel tank from its connection. I have no prior experience or knowledge of tractors but I found this design very troublesome. Not only did I wind up dripping gallons of diesel on the property along with the potential of a fire hazzard but there is no reason to think that this situation would not occur again. Is anyone aware of any modification available to correct this situation. I have contacted the Branson dealership as well as Branson in Rome Ga. and awaiting on a response.

You can try to sleeve the hose with a heavier larger hose for a little more protection or fabricate something, I have sold many Compact Centurys and Branson tractors and I have not seen this B4 so I know it is not a common problem. Most tractors have some sort of rubber line whether it be fuel or hydraulic running where a long stick could catch it just right.
Ive seen broken steel hydraulic lines from brush mowing, While extremly rare these things do happen.
Brush mowing is rough on a tractor without a skidplate set up, Most tractor owner dont have these due to the cost. You have brush, tree's and Rocks going under the belly of the machine under force. As a newbe with tractors you have to take your time and be extra carefull, If you find a good fix to resolve your issue please post it so others can be informed.

Running over heavy brush can do all sorts of bad things to
any tractor.
I've done my fair share of the same thing with no problems yet!
A skidd plate would be a good ideal.
I do all sorts of Jeep mods including building skid plates,
just never found the time to look and build one for my 4720 yet!
By no means do I want to sound like a smart azz but
it's not a Army tank.
Heavy brush can find it's way to , oil pan, radiator, fuel lines,
hydro lines, fule tank, filters and so on.......
Find yourself a good shop that can fab up a nice skid for it.
I plan to do so in the near futrue....

Geb/Shifty,

Appreciate the response... After I posted I seen some other post with similar issues with other tractors. Skid plate sounds reasonable and would resolve the issue of the fuel lines being in the open as they are on this tractor.

Sorry to hear of your damage.

If you are hogging heavy stuff, and it sounds like that is what you are doing, then try backing into the stuff, instead of running over it. I never run over anything standing that could in any way be categorized as tree. There is simply too much chance of damage, as you found out. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Also, never back up with brush, branches, or saplings under the tractor, if you do bush hog going forwards.

There used to be a very instructive old post complete with pictures that showed the right was to do it. I think the member was one of the TBN old timers, Miller perhaps, but I couldn't locate it today.

It's easy done. I was doing some loader work and snagged a sapling.
After the loader skimmed over the sapling it caught the radiator flush line.
Of course this happened at dusk on the edge of the property. I thought I really did some damage. It was and easy fix with two hose clamps.
I have noticed the fuel line in a very poor choice. Just int the spot for high centering while doing plowing, backfilling. The Brason tractor has really impressed me with what it can do. The lower side looks like and after thought.
