I need to remove the radiator on my 3510, in order to make some upgrades, however, I need to be absolutely certain, as to how it is mounted on the bottom. Typical modern automotive applications, require removal of a couple of top fastening bolts, then the radiator is simply lifted up and out of a couple of rubber cradles or seats, that are mounted underneath, on a metal support. I have removed the top two sets of radiator retaining bolts/nuts, however, the radiator still seems to be firmly affixed underneath. I know there is some sort of round rubber mounts that appear to be secured to the metal cross piece, by way of a bolt through the rubber mount, and, what looks like, perhaps, a recessed nut, with a thin, flat, washer-like retaining underside, with four radial splits. In other words, the nut/washer-like contraption on the underside is not like anything I have ever seen before.
In all, it looks like it is designed to allow the radiator to be lifted straight up and out. However, this radiator has plastic tanks, top and bottom, and most likely, will not tolerate any abuse. And I imagine a new one carries a very hefty price tag. (A new water pump sells for over $800!)
So, what I am asking is; can someone out there confirm for me, exactly how this radiator is supposed to be removed? I am 90% sure I know, but that is just not good enough to make me feel comfortable applying more force than I already have, at this point.
Thanks in advance for any information you may be able to provide. :anyone:
