brand new newbee to the tractor forums and tractors in general...

Hi everyone! I'm from Houston Texas and last year I bought 10.5 acres of raw land in Conroe TX. Other than walking around the property and a spending a few hours at it I have not done anything yet, but I plan on changing that this year. While looking for a tractor online I would search for information on the tractors I liked and I often ended up on this website, so I figured I might as well join and ask questions if I need to.

The land has nothing but pine trees which I don't plan on cutting down yet, and the brush is not too bad, the land is almost flat for the most part a slope here and there but nothing crazy. I don't want to buy a new tractor, and what I do know is I would need a brush hog and a box blade to make the land nice and flat. Budget I want to stay is around 5k for a used one I found a few that meet what up to now are my expectations, but Ifigure iI would ask more experienced people than me and maybe push my budget a little more. I don't plan on building anything yet, but I would like to fence it and have some goats or sheep there on the meantime. Please help a brother out!! I will keep reading too to try to figure as much out on my own.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I'm here for the long run as I'm really looking forward to do plenty of work with whatever tractor I end up buying. I have a couple on sight, just educating myself a bit more on which will suit my current needs. Any recommendation for a first tractor? Let me know!

Found my tractor a John Deere 2355 in good condition with a FEL, canopy, turf tires on and a extra set of AG tires already mounted on wheels for a really good price... Thanks everyone!

If you've got the tractor, you've done the hard part, now go have some fun..........and be safe. Read up on tractor safety here on TBN, it's very important. Being on a tractor can be a lot of fun.....ergh I mean work. But there is a learning curve, don't get in a hurry & enjoy.

Thanks Charlie! I will go ahead and read up the safety thread! Yes it was hard finding the right tractor, I'm glad I found this one within reach of my budget! I'm ordering the manuals soon too.
