Hi all; recently got this new beauty from my closest dealer in Pendleton, OR. Although not a farmer, I've operated many types & brands of small to medium tractors. This Mahindra is a champ! It steers so well, feels very balanced, has 32 turbocharged hp, and the shuttle shift is wonderful.
A thorough reading of the owners manual reveals a strict break-in procedure. For the first 5 hrs, operate at load and 2550 - 2675 rpm. Idling is not recommended. So, I immediately rented a 5' brush hog (rotary cutter) and mowed down the 4' tall grass & weeds & sagebrush around our area (6 acres) I used a pretty low gear (ground speed) to insure complete cutting. Conditions were hot sun, 95 degrees F, no wind, low humidity. Total: 9 tach hrs (only 8.2 clock hrs) 6.6 gallons of fuel burned. It was dry & dusty, so I stopped every 90 minutes to blow the tractor clean with compressed air. I also cleaned the air filter twice.
I am rather a "nut" on keeping things clean. My buddies tease me; I wax & polish everything. My cars are immaculate. So, after the days mowing work, I was up until 1:30am waxing the new tractor! I took off all 4 wheels and waxed the back side of each. I removed several parts to get at things. Even the loader arms, bucket, inside of hood, etc did not escape treatment.
Then I Armor-alled the tires, seat, and all black trim.......looks like a million $'s. Only problem is, now I hesitate to use it again? Might get it dirty.....
I'm planning a "tractor warming" party. I know LOTS of people, so 50-60 guys & gals will show up. The new Mahindra will be decorated with ballons, and the loader bucket raised 4 feet & filled with ice & bottles of soda. We must give the tractor a propler welcome to it's new home. Brochures will be on display, and maybe even a test drive or two.........
BTW, the 3215 handled the brush hog with ease. The engine ran perfectly and the water temp gauge was below half all day.
