Hi all; recently got this new beauty from my closest dealer in Pendleton, OR. Although not a farmer, I've operated many types & brands of small to medium tractors. This Mahindra is a champ! It steers so well, feels very balanced, has 32 turbocharged hp, and the shuttle shift is wonderful.

A thorough reading of the owners manual reveals a strict break-in procedure. For the first 5 hrs, operate at load and 2550 - 2675 rpm. Idling is not recommended. So, I immediately rented a 5' brush hog (rotary cutter) and mowed down the 4' tall grass & weeds & sagebrush around our area (6 acres) I used a pretty low gear (ground speed) to insure complete cutting. Conditions were hot sun, 95 degrees F, no wind, low humidity. Total: 9 tach hrs (only 8.2 clock hrs) 6.6 gallons of fuel burned. It was dry & dusty, so I stopped every 90 minutes to blow the tractor clean with compressed air. I also cleaned the air filter twice.

I am rather a "nut" on keeping things clean. My buddies tease me; I wax & polish everything. My cars are immaculate. So, after the days mowing work, I was up until 1:30am waxing the new tractor! I took off all 4 wheels and waxed the back side of each. I removed several parts to get at things. Even the loader arms, bucket, inside of hood, etc did not escape treatment.
Then I Armor-alled the tires, seat, and all black trim.......looks like a million $'s. Only problem is, now I hesitate to use it again? Might get it dirty.....

I'm planning a "tractor warming" party. I know LOTS of people, so 50-60 guys & gals will show up. The new Mahindra will be decorated with ballons, and the loader bucket raised 4 feet & filled with ice & bottles of soda. We must give the tractor a propler welcome to it's new home. Brochures will be on display, and maybe even a test drive or two.........

BTW, the 3215 handled the brush hog with ease. The engine ran perfectly and the water temp gauge was below half all day.

Congratulations on the new toy.

I had my new Mahindra less than four hours when a rock about 6-inches in diameter tumbled out of the loader onto the hood. This was my first ever new tractor -- I've been driving hand-me-downs and resurections for over 40 years.

My wonderful wife couldn't understand my lack of good humor about the dent. She said "it's just a tractor. What's the big deal?"

Don't pick up any big rocks for a while.

Good luck,
Knute

The new 3215 comes with a thick rubber mat layed over the floor of the deck. This mat gets dirty easily. Last night I removed it, then applied 2 coats of wax to the steel deck floor. This way, water or any moisture will not linger for long and cause rust. Then I cleaned and dressed the rubber mat, and re-installed. (the idea is similar to drying underneath the front bra on a car hood, after washing)

The loader bucket (ML 111) is 9.4 cubic feet capacity, so it should hold LOTS of ice and drinks! Maybe even half a buffet of cold trays, as the guests walk by and munch. This should be a fun party; but I won't let children climb all over the thing.........

Has your wife ever knowingly spilled something on the carpet, knowing you'll drool over cleaning it for the next 2 hours>>?? Hope you enjoy your new tractor, but, hey someone has to say it: Tractors are for playing in the dirt.......BobG in VA

Bill6,
Sounds like you are enjoying the new tractor. And I expect there has never been a shinier one!

Are you glad you stepped up from the 2615 gear you were considering? Mahindra will continue aggressive pricing on the 3215 models through September, so we shoud see more and more of these out in the field.

It figures that you would know how much fuel you used, afterall, you drive a Honda Insight.

Enjoy your new tool.

Thanks, Dave. Yes, I'm glad I opted for the 3215, even though it was about $2850 more. It's probably too much tractor for my specific needs, but who knows, maybe other people will hire me to perform work for them. A bit more HP is always nice, and it can run slightly larger implements.

I chose the 15 series because it is Japanese. Whether automobiles, pianos, or tractors, the true Japanese designed & manufactured equipment will be of higher quality, and better fit & finish that Korean or Chinese. At least, that is my experience. And the 3215 is a NEW model, with more modern gauges, rubber deck mat, fender protectors, turbocharged engine. I selected gear over HST because of the type of work anticipated. Also, gear is $1000 less, and provides 2 more PTO HP. (more efficient transfer of power)
