My brakes lights are not working. I always turn my lights on... did from day one. But the other day I didn't but noticed when I pressed the brake pedal the front white side lights would
come on. Is this normal and if not does this have anything to do with the brakes lights ceasing to work? I will check bulbs and fuses tomorrow. I need to fuel up and prep we have a n'easter on the way...

My tractor has the switch under the brake pedal, under the foot pan, the wires are very easy to snag and come unplugged all the time.

Actually they are unplugged now, too lazy to get under there and plug back together, will do tomorrow when clearing out the blizzard.

Also, I find the ground between the brake lights and the sheet metal is not the greatest.

Sounds like a possible short to ground causing some lights to be on when they they should not and others to not work at all. Look at what Joel suggested at the pedal area, too.

I've got an '04 with 350 hrs and the switch was bad; swapped out and they're fine

Checked fuses - OK. Replaced both bulbs. Sockets looked a little crusty sprayed with cleaner and replaced bulbs. Still getting the front white side lights coming on when I put the brake pedal on - only happens when lights are not turned on. Also not a huge diff between red of tail light and when brake light is on.

I think tomorrow will be a maintenance day after the snow if it blows here. Cab needs a vacuum/cleaning and windows need to be cleaned inside and out...

Probably a bad ground and when you engage the brake switch the light is finding a ground through another bulb in the circuit. Check all your connections at the connectors and lamp sockets as well as the grounds at the frame and the socket. You'll find it.
