I purchased this 12 volt conversion from psepbiz on ebay for my late-model '52 ford (Serial Number 8N281945*). Here is a link to the item I purchased (Part No AKT0004): Generator to Alternator Conversion Late Ford 8N Tractors AKT0004 | eBay

Anyway, the kit looks great and I want it to work. However, mounting the alternator isn't working out. I removed the generator, etc. Then, looking at the diagram on the instructions, it appears the vertical bracket should be mounted in such a way that the bolt from the water pump would fit through the slot in the bracket, making the bracket vertical. I cannot get this to work.... I am hoping somebody else has installed this seemingly popular kit.

Can anybody spot an error I am making? I called the seller and then the manufacturer. Both were stumped... I feel the manufacturer tried on the call, looking at the images I sent, etc... But, they basically just said send it back.

It'd be easier to just get this to work. Any suggestions?

It looks to me like it's on there right what problem are you having? Will the alternator not line up with the belt?

look at the paper diagram. 3 brackets shown. the slotted one goes on alt top ear, then bolts to another then to water pump

Yes take off part number GFD9304 and reverse it, has mentioned its upside down with you the slot part number GFD9305 is for adjustment and should be at the top.

Have you looked at the Ebay link 9304 has a slot, but it mounts just like he has it. He just needs to mount alternator in the ears and bolt 9305 to 9304 an adjust.

the paper he posted shows 3 bracket parts.. I see only 2 in his post.

I think in the op he was worried about the bracket being more vertical, which it doesn't have to be for the alternator to work.

the way he has it now, he just needs to add that next small slotted piece...

this isn't rocket science... play witht he parts till they fit.. ( including custom fittment as needed )

I make all my own alternator conversion brackets from 1/4" scrap a-la torch and weld

Yes I can see it there is a triad part shown in diagram part number GFD9305 that needs to be put on the top of part number GFD9304. just needs to look at it more carefully.
