The old baler has been put through the wringer by previous owners. I’ve replaced a lot of parts on it and when working right it still makes a great bale. But we had a small fire at the end of first cut due to the smooth roller getting hot and found several issues and pretty much replaced every bearing and bolt in the sledge and put 6 new belts on since the old ones melted a little. I had the tension cylinder redone last year. So after getting it together it rolled great for about 50 rolls and then lost tension on making the rolls and the tension arm stayed up and the belts were very loose. Shut it down and started using our new roller. After sitting over night the tension arm fell back into place and the belts were tighter so it bled off over night. No visible leaks any where. New gauge and fill port last year when I got the cylinder redone. I took the valve out and cleaned it. Nothing looks wrong on it. Recharged the circuit like I should and set the pressure. Rolled a couple rolls yesterday and it showed no pressure while forming the roll and it was very loose when it was done tying. Shows zero psi when closed and shows my set pressure when first open but bleeds off a little when open. After cycling a few times it shows more than zero when closed. I think the cylinder is either leaking around the internal seal or the pressure valve itself is faulty. Is there a way to differentiate the two to find out without taking apart? I planned on taking the cylinder off and pressure testing it first since it’s cheaper to fix. Thanks for any advice.
