Box Scrapers need 100 pounds of implement weight per foot of width to cut average soil reasonably well. One hundred twenty-five pounds of implement weight per foot of width is better.

Construction grade Box Blades start at 200 pounds per foot of width.

So the 60" Princess should weigh at least 500 pounds, better 625 pounds.

Box Blades are the most common TPH mounted implements for FEL counterbalance. Calculate your potential FEL counterbalance need before finalizing decision on weight of Box Blade. Too many buy light Box Blades which will not cut and insufficiently heavy to counterbalance full lift capacity of loaded FEL bucket.

You are welcome.

Good luck.

You can always add weight to a box blade. It will cut better but your tractor must be big enough to pull it and the impelement must be strong enough to not fail.

Quality usually has an initial higher price tag. Long term, after maintenance, quality will probably be a less expensive implement to own.

My neighbour picked up the Princess Auto 60" box blade when it was on sale and he said for what he is using it for, it's been fine and no complaints.

I believe the weight of it is around the 462 pound mark, give or take a couple pounds.

I picked up a nice box blade when I was out in eastern Oklahoma at an auction. Never weighed it, but it was heavy enough. I put it behind a 30 horsepower tractor and all was well. I sold that one and bought a 70 horsepower tractor. It would cut and grade like there was no tomorrow, but the tractor just had too much horsepower and traction, and ended up ripping the box blade to pieces. I ripped the lower links right off it when i caught an in-movable object. Repaired them with a weld, did it again. Added about 3 times the metal to the arms and that allowed them to hold up enough to stop the tractor when hitting an something strong. (I am talking about a 6 inch piece of buried cast iron pipe about 7 feet long)
Weight versus strength versus horsepower all have to be considered...

Oh, I don't use it anymore...

True. On that note, I should add that my neighbour purchased it for his Kubota B2301. He finds that it is a good match for him and the conditions he is using it in, that five foot blade with the 22 horse tractor.
