Kubota B26
Hi Folks,

I'm going to buy a box scraper for my B26.

Can anybody recommend which box blade size is most suitable, they have 4ft, 5ft and 6ft models.

I have seen in the manual Kubota recommends max box blade width of 54 inches (4.5 ft) and 227kg weight.

Also is a box blade much better than just a rear blade attachment? I'm going to be using it to level land and gravel the driveway eventually, so nothing extreme and it wont be used excessively.

Not an expert here but you want the blade or scraper to cover your rear tracks if you can. The blade can be set at various angles to move dirt and, gravel around. There are also more road specific attachments that might work better and easier. I will let those more versed than I comment further.

Like Wasmeneh said, you'll want one at least as wide as the rear tracks. The most common size sold for a B26 is 60". We have a few awesome models to choose from, depending on budget.

Land Shark 2.1 Compact Box Blade

EA Xtreme Duty Compact Box Blade

EA Xtreme 30-70 Box Blade *my favorite for your machine!

OOPS! After typing this, I discovered you're down under. We don't ship down there, but our informative videos should give you ideas for features to look for!

I have a smaller B model (1700) and it handles a medium duty 5' box blade with no problems...
Learning to use a box blade...If your B26 does not have at least a hydraulic top link (and a side link would be even better) be prepared to spend a lot of time getting on and off the tractor making manual adjustments...

lengthening and shortening the top link is paramount in changing the cutting angle of the blade...even minor adjustments can make a big difference in the performance and the effect of the action...

A experienced user can do more with a box blade than any other single pull type implement...but there are still a few things that a rear blade or a land plane can do quicker and easier with fewer passes...

Most will tell you the heavier the better and for the most part that is good advise...

Good Luck...

On my B26 I use a 54" box scraper. I bought it because that was what Kubota recommended.
Having said that: I think that a 60" box scraper would do just fine, as long as you don't take too big of bites.

On my B26 I use a 60 inch BB1560 from landpride. It weight 430 LBS. I can overflow the box with chains on the rear. I don't have a hydraulic top link but on the B26 you can adjust the top link by reaching behind the seat while sitting on seat. I slightly move the tractor in reverse to relieve the pressure on the top link and its easy to turn it manually to make adjustment. Once you get the hang on the amount of cut you need from the scraper its pretty easy to use. One thing to remember is to go SLOW......

I have a B2620 with no ballast in tires. I built and maintained one mile of bush road with a 60 inch Land Pride box blade in sandy loam soil. It handles it no problem.
And I have a couple pretty steep hills and I can still pull it up them if not loaded right up with material.
Other than the loader the box blade is the most used implement I have. I rarely ever touch my hydraulic angle rear blade. I can do anything with that box blade.
Sorry for linking another forum, but I used to be on here and had posted lots of project pics with my B.
