Have a question about the abilities of a box scraper. A 4ft on a B7510 w/digging forks. Would I be able to use one to dig up and level my back yard? Right now it is rough with grass and moss. I have a disc harrow for my old Farmall Cub. Would I be better off to use that first, than the Box Blade? Or could the BB do it alone? I have never seen a BB in action and though I think I understand basically how one works, I have never seen one in action. Hence, I don't really know how one works. Or what it is capable of.

I am looking to purchase this tractor shortly and am thinking about a BB for a rear ballast. Just trying to come up with some things I'd actually use it for, besides a rear weight, in order to justify the purchase.

Just the box blade with scarifiers will do the job.

Get the box blade ... it's a very useful tool. It will smooth out your yard; it's a perfect balast for the front loader; it'll carry firewood, shovels, rakes, chains, etc. I'm sure there are many more uses ... heck, it even acts as a good parking brake for holding the tractor on a hill.

Yep, I agree, if you were only going to get one rear attachment, make it a box blade.
and I would recommend a good one, not one of those tin foil things that you would find at a Tractor Supply outlet.
You should see the difference in my Woods box and those things they sell at the discount stores.
Also, a little adjustment to the top arm goes a long way. You can go from scraping to digging to china in a few turns of the link.

Digging to China...hmm.....

I was thinking of getting the Kubota BB with the tractor. I would think that would be a quality unit, no? Is the Woods better?

You will be surprised how well a cheap KK box will work...I ended up with one by accident...the accident being my waiting till the last minute to order a Woods Box Blade, and Woods not being able to deliver to my dealer soon enough.

So, with hanging head I decided to buy the KK box blade, and Ed King, the purple tractor man (still around Ed?) hauled it to my place in the back of his pick up.

And it works well. No complaints. Less than half the cost of the woods...a little light but I put some 12" concrete blocks on it for extra weight....

I guess all I am trying to say is don't write off the cheaper box blades. They work too...maybe not top of the line...but quite functional.

I don't know the price of a Kubota label box blade, but would price a KK or even better Midwest or First Choice box if they are available in your area, before deciding on the Kubota named one...

The box blade ranks right up there with the toothbar as far as usefulness, at least on my tractor... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

What is a KK box blade? Is that a certain kind? A brand?

I have a 60" King Kutter box blade that I bought from TSC. I have put it through many many hours of very hard work, and it hasn't let me down yet. The walls are made out of 1/4" plate steel. I would hardly call that tin foil. If you have a valid complaint with the KK brand, please make it. If you are just bashing the brand because you can afford a more expensive unit, that is unnecessary.

Bird,
Should I have bought a box blade instead of my Landscape Rake?
