Massey Ferguson GC1725
Hi,
I have a 2019 Massey Ferguson GC1725 25HP Sub-compact tractor and am interested in a 48", 54", or 60" box blade. Been looking at the (Temporarily blocked due to reports of company closure) EA Land Shark 2.1. Weight varies from around 289 pounds to 329 pounds.

Does anybody have any recommendations on a quality Box Blade that the MF GC1725 can handle? I would prefer a 54" or 60" so it is wider than the width of the rear tires...but also worried about overloading the tractor.

Specs for the MF GC1725:

  • Independent PTO HP = 18.7
  • PTO Size RPM (in.) = Rear: 540(1.375 six spline); Mid: 2000 (1, fifteen spline)
  • 3-point hitch = Cat 1
  • 3-point hitch Lift Capacity - Pivot Pin = 1191 pounds
  • 3-point hitch Lift Capacity - 24" behind pivot pins = 661 pounds

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

A 48" with cover your tires as the wheels are 45" outside to outside. You're tractor has the power to pull all 3 but it's lighter weight class leaves you spinning your tires with a full box of material. I use a 48" on my GC1710 and would be comfortable with a 54" but probably not more based simply on traction without augmenting the weight of the machine.

I have a 24 engine HP tractor and a 60” BB I use with it. Under most conditions it is all ok, but if I really load up the BB with gravel or heavy clay, I can have issues pulling it. I have had to several times put my tractor into 4x4 and lick the differential to pull the load.
If moving lots of material is your plan, go with the narrowest that will cover your rear tire stance.

Hmmmm.... Been having almost same question but with scraper blade.....

Been looking at the possibilities of a BE-RBR45G (54 inch) since I also have 3 inch wheel spacers on my 1715 was wondering if its a little to big...

Too big?! I was gonna say too small. I use a 60" blade. Once you tilt the blade gets narrower and doesn't cover tracks so you have to be wide enough to account for that. Plus, unlike a box blade, scraper blades leak material out the sides as they fill

Since you have added 6” to your tractor’s rear wheel stance, you want a blade that is wide enough to cover that stance when the blade is pitched on an angle. Some blades have 5 adjustment positions front and rear facing. 2 angle settings to each side. I would want my rear tires to be covered by the lesser angle st a min when the blade is centered as the picture looks like an offset capable blade. Less than that and you will have to always run it offset to cover one tire track and then adjust it to center when in the center point of the angles to work a driveway. Constantly adjusting. Tilt for crown and angles to pull gravel and offset as well. Sounds frustrating to me if as the blade picture shows all are manual adjustments. Add it infrequent use and a bit of corrosion and ....

Material out the side or to center of road is whole idea about the blade....

I like that blade; the pin on the back looks like it would make tilt adjustment simple and fast. I got a Paladin from my local Kioti dealer. It's similar at first glance but this AgriEase pictured doesn't seem to allow for offset, which I find very useful.

I have a 2010 GC2610 and bought a 72" box blade because I got a very good deal on it. It works OK but I've considered cutting it down to 60" I only use it for a few hours every couple of years to groom a 250' driveway. If I used it more often I'm sure I would have done it by now.

I have the Tractor Supply Orange brand 48 inch on the GC2410 without weights or weighted tires. You will lose traction way before the engine will work hard. I may experiment with chains later but also when using the ripper shanks it will take time to find the traction\angle\depth ratio for each soil type.

I dont think you'll get much more done with anything larger than a 50 inch than you will with less than 50 inch.
