Considering building my own box blade for my tractor. I've been looking into the idea and going to price materials that I don't have on hand to see what the difference would be. I can get some of the metal & scrape blade from my friends recycling business to help cut cost a good bit and for what I want vs. what a new one as heavy duty as I like would cost.
I'm thinking 7' or 8' with 1/2" end plates and 3/8" or 1/2" back plate. Opinion on size or rear plate for scrape blade to attach to? Also the machine shop can cut the metal to size but can't bend or round the back plate for me. So I could either just leave it flat or have it in half length wise and weld the two pieces together into a slight V shape like >. Thoughts?
