Bought myself a belated BirthDay present

As much as I love my Old Town Loon 138, ( 13' 8" @ 54 lbs. ) I have had the hankering for something a little shorter and a little lighter.

This is the side of me that people usually like best.
As you can see, the Bearcamp River paddle is a Very Peaceful and Layed back paddle. It was an Awesome afternoon,( 5 hrs. ) even if we did get cought in a torrential downpour.

But never having gotten into that activity (golf balls don't float! Don't ask how I know that!!/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif), I've got to ask you - - - you drive to some camp and put your kayak in the water and paddle yourself downstream. So how do you get back to your truck? Do you paddle back, or do you have some poor lacky pick you up at some predetermined point and drive you back? It looks like fun, but not if I gotta walk back carrying my 36 lb. kayak!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

A river paddle like this would require 2 vehicles. In this particular case last Saturday, we had 3 people. So We unloaded at the old covered bridge, left one person there to watch the gear.

We then took both vehicles down to our chosen take out spot about a 15 minute round trip down the road, ( Ossippee Lake ) We left my truck there. Drove back to the covered bridge and proceeded with our launching.

As we were in no hurry, we just let the current carry us slowly down stream letting and watching several people and many families in kayaks and canoes and innertubes go past us as we flowed downstream past many campgrounds with the wonderful smell of campfires burning. Several times we stopped a spots lke this one (see pic) to have a swim and snack on a piece of homemade beef jerky.
