I plowed it up last year, and bought the tiller today...

My tiller was a very frequently used implement. Of course we have a little longer growing season than West Virginia, but since my wife's from WV, we've been there many times in the last 42 years and her Dad and brothers all had very nice gardens, even in town with a walk behind tiller.
