Ford 641 kubota m4900
After traveling many miles and looking at and pricing many tractors I gave in to the temptation and bought a new M4900 with fel and backhoe. I find this website to be very informative and have read almost all the post's over the last few months. The deciding factor in purchasing the tractor was the dealer. He and his staff went out of their way to make me feel like I was the most important thing they had to take care of. This was not the first new tractor I ever purchased as I retired as director of maintenance for a large school system and purchased a lot of equipment for school use, and many colors involved. Thanks to all those who have posted as this is very informative and educational. I purchased my tractor from a local dealer, Stratton Tractor sales in Milton, West Virginia.

Congratulations. That's a BIG machine. Why did you go Kubota as opposed to another brand. Dealer only? or something else?

I'm trying to narrow down my search. MX5000, M4800SU, JD5103, JD5105. Gotta' decide soon due to financing.

Posting pictures is mandatory.

The main reasons were the dealer's location which was near my home the dealers attitude, and from my view (which is limited )the Kubota felt better when I operated it. Not to say I didn't like the John Deere 5105 because I did, but I felt more comfortable on the Kubota. I have had many back surgeries and the platform of the Kubota felt better to me. Both are good machines as well as others but this was personal preference.

Congratulations Boats, I think you'll love your M4900. I spent about 10 hours on mine this week-end and it performed like a champ.

Two of my neighbors and I team up every fall and do our fall bush hogging, disking and ryegrass planting together. One has a JD (I don't remember the model) and one has a 3910 Ford. The M4900 puts them both to shame - Of course it should, it's a lot newer than either of theirs.

It's the most comfortable and easy operating tractor I've ever used and I've owned several and operated a bunch of them for other folks growing up. A third neighbor came by to check on us and I let him make a few rounds on the Kubota while I ate lunch. His comment was "It drives like a cadillac".

Like you I was lucky enough to find a good dealer and that's just as important as the brand as far as I'm concerned.

Good luck with your new tractor!

Have a few hours on the 4900 now and you are correct, it handles like a dream. Neighbor who has a different brand came over and drove it for about an hour and wanted to swap me his machine, which is new. I like the tractor but would like a little more storage space. The dealer was very helpful as he spent hours going over safety matters, lubrication, maintenance and what would void the warranty. I couldn't ask for a more pleasant experience than I have had buying this machine. Will be doing some serious gravel moving next week so we'll find out about the loader then. The backhoe is great and mowing is a pleasure compared to the 641 I had in past years.
