Bought a new x300, thinking of returning...

As the title implies, I purchased a new x300 with the 48" deck about 20 days ago. I have mowed my 1 acre of land three times, and I am happy with the mower so far. The problem that I am having going through my head is that I over payed for what I got, and I am having regrets that I paid $3,500 for a machine with the K46 transmission. I feel that I could return the mower, get my money back and purchase a used machine that is built heavier with a transmission with a better reputation.

If I could purchase a great used machine for $2000 or less, I would be up $1500 or more and would have a better tractor. Or, I could purchase a new machine for half the price with the same transmission just a less quality motor. I am thinking if the transmission will fail it will be before the motor does anyway, what difference does it make which motor the tractor has?

Does this situation sound plausible or am I just being overly dramatic? What do some of you think I should do?

I think you should have purchased an x310 or x320 to start with. I think I would try to trade up to one of these, that is where the K58 starts being used.

I bought my 285 John Deere for $5000 23 years ago. THAT was a lot of $$$$ to mow the lawn (back then), but it's still going and going and going. I ALMOST wish it would die so I can buy another NEW JD. It would be a diesel :cloud9:

I have no idea which transaxle it has. Biggest repair was a new water pump at about 500 hours.

I think you should have purchased an x310 or x320 to start with. I think I would try to trade up to one of these, that is where the K58 starts being used.

He does not need to trade, he can return for a full refund, and buy bigger. No money lost.

I had an X-300, used it for two years and put about 90 hours on it. I then started feeling the same way you do so I was able to sell it for 2100 and then I bought a used Kubota BX-1500. The used BX cost a lot more than the X-300 did new but there is no comparison between those two machines.
