Tractor
Kubota U-35, kx-040, Ford 8n, JD-280, JD380, JD1020, JD40C, Satoh Bull, Kubota L2501,
After months of looking and driving Kubota, NH, Kioti, Mahindra and Massy, we settled on the L2501 HST just today. The tractor will have quick disconnect loader and bucket, lifting forks, the better sun shade, heavy duty model Land Pride box blade, rear hydraulics, brush hog later on and, industrial tires with beet juice. Funny how the first tractor we visited and the last tractor visited stuck to us like manure on our boots! - I just fell for how smooth it was, even the foot rocker was pleasant and very sensitive to my touch but not too sensitive and something I was afraid of, especially only having gear tractors in the past.
This decision came after many, many thoughts on our REAL needs compared to seldom, maybe, would we ever....? As we won't use the PTO much, just a brush hog suitable for this tractor, the 25HP with no DPF is the way to go for us although, I had been dead set on the L3301 and its higher HP. What really changed my mind was using the box blade on some pretty hard dirt and rock where the L2501 worked like a charm, doubt we will ever work one that hard as the roads we maintain now are pretty easy. The dealer was super during all our visits, (3) even making some suggestions on other brand comparable tractors to look over. All in all, we found little to be discouraged about, all the different makes had models that would work well for us. It just came down to the dealer who we know well, having bought our excavator from them and that everything we wanted/needed turned out so seamless and for a great price too. My Son is bringing the tractor home Saturday but having some church work scheduled, he gets all the fun the first day! Yes, I know, pictures are needed. Once I figure out how to post them...Is there a good how-to-post-photos tutorial someplace on the forum?
Man, am I ever glad this is over.. Ricn

Sounds like you got the tractor you need from a dealer you trust. Can't argue with that. Have fun, if you can get it back from your son. Ed

TEG; Thanks for that link, very interesting read.
Many thanks for all the posts on this site; I can't express enough how much everyone's opinions help those of us who are replacing the old iron with new or perhaps buying their first tractor. As we work hard at taking care of our equipment, my Sons will surely be using the L2501 for years to come.

Congratulations on your new machine. It sounds like you found your best tractor and great dealer too. But now you have to get to work, if your son ever lets you have it.
