We've returned our Boomer 8N for a full refund.

The 8n slips in to forward crawl mode after 20 min of operation..

After reading the 3 service manuals I can see why the 8n can be a "no fix" tractor.

The plethora of switches, wiring and the CVT xmisssion create a rube goldberg implement that is not remotely comparable to the Ford 8n.

Before one buys ANY new implement read the factory service manuals, verify that the electronic diagnostic tools are available and vet the service personnel's factory certifications and training..

Remember failure of one contact or switch turns the implement into a heap of scrap.

Insist on a bumper to bumper $0 deductible long term FACTORY warranty.

Caveat emptor!!

I turned in a brand new Boomer 3050 after 9 months just because of all the computer crap you refer to in your post. The CVT transmission would go into " safe mode" when under stress and one time I almost backed down a steep incline into water standing on the brakes while having to turn the ignition off, then back on, to re- boot the computer. I also started to hate the " toggle switch" computer cruise control which was a PIA. Look up my member name for a posts on this unit. CVT may be ok on mega sized tractors but on the smaller units are crap in my opinion.

For what it's worth, I worked for a local NH dealer for a number of years. I have only come in contact with a few Boomer 8n units, none of which were sold. They developed more problems just sitting on the lot than other tractors would in a year's service. I would never recommend (let alone own) one.

Years ago the driving force in "modernizing" machinery was the consumer but it appears many corporations are listening to middle management with MBA's telling them everything needs to be computerized. Why some people want cars that drive themselves is beyond me and if tractor manufacturers would listen to their customers instead of paper shufflers these newer units would sell better and be a lot more dependable. The reason the original Ford 8N is still rebuilt and so used is because it is generally rock solid dependable and easy to work on at home, not because it has whiz bang computer controls. Manufacturers would do themselves a world of favor by looking and studying these forums instead of dreaming up what they think the consumer wants.....
