I have a NH Boomer41, 2015 with regeneration. Has anyone bypassed/removed this system? What happens if I re-route the exhaust and leave everything else alone?

It will still attempt to regenerate at every 50hrs, and it will fail since you basically deleted the filter. The tractor will go into to limp mode, and you will be stuck. You will then need to call a dealer, who can use his spiffy laptop to reset your tractor, but will see that you have deleted the DPF and will likely not do the work, or re route the exhaust back to factor and charge you for it.

You will need to unlock the ECU and reprogram it. As far as I know, this has not been accomplished yet, by anyone.

The tractor goes into regen mode every 50hrs. The regen takes maybe 10-15 minutes and you can continue working while it does this process. There is real no upswing to attempting to delete this system. The huge negative is turning your $35k tractor into a paperweight.

But, if you can figure out a way, I'd be very interested to know how you did it. 😉

From TractorData, it seems this tractor uses a Shibaura N844L engine, which means it has a mechanical injection system and shouldn't need an ECU to run. Although it probably has some sort of datalogger for the DPF to keep track of regenerations, fill level and control the burner kit or whatever they call it that injects diesel on the DPF during the regen process.

I appreciate your help, figured there was more to it than just re-routing the exhaust. The regeneration happens about every 4 hours and lasts for 30-40- min, according to the manual. Sometimes it does this with no noticeable problem, other times the tractor will barely even run, 800-1000 rpm & no throttle response.Tractor would barely move, it is HST. I let it go thru the cycle & sure enough ,45 min later back to normal.

You're absolutely right! I got mixed up between the Boomer 41 (with the Shibaura engine) and the Boomer 45 (with the LS Mitron L3C19-T engine(my tractor), this happens more than I'd like to admit)
That might change things, and I would hate that regen cycle. However, your tractor would probably still turn into a brick if you bypass that filter and do nothing to the ECU. That said, I am not too familiar with that engine. Hopefully someone can guide you better than I.
Still interested though.

Just re-reading this, that low idle and lack of throttle response sounds like limp mode. But it regenerates at that low of idle?

Yes it did regen, I parked it & let it run . It did what the indicator lights said it would do. Auto regen mode, 1 blinking @2 sec.- then burner on & after about 45 min back to normal.
I guess since it is computer control one would have to take everything off & go back to the old days.

Being a fully mechanical engine, it is possible to do it. It's just a matter of understanding how the computer interacts with the rest of the tractor and how the burner is tied into the engine and electronics.

I searched for the same engine and I saw pictures of the engine with a simple muffler right away. No electronics at all.

So any suggestions on getting rid of regen without totally making a big mess?

I'm not familiar with that setup. Seems a bit more complex than was I would expect.

On Branson tractors, it used to be as simple as disconnecting the data logger, and replace the DOC with a muffler or simply gut the DOC out. They did it in a way that the emission stuff was basically a bolt on thing, almost as an after thought, so it made it very easy to "fix".
