Oil & Fuel boomer 40 50 hr. questions

My boomer 40 is ready for the 50 hr. filter change.I was told [hope its not true] that the hyd. oil will run out when you remove the filter so you have to be quick! That sounds like a expensive filter change .dealer is to far away to drive it and my trailer is down. Any of you guys do your own 50 hr. really wanted to run the oil for the 300 hrs. Thank you

Yea you will loose some but not enough to worry about. You do want to be fairly quick but you shouldn't loose more than a quart or two. I just cleaned the filter off really good and placed a clean container below to catch the fluid, you could filter it and pour it back in if you like that is what I did I also could tell if there was any metal particles as I filtered it because sometimes you will get some with a new unit. It's up to you what you do with the lost fluid but it shouldn't be that much.

Thanks for the reply.It was pretty painless lost about a quart of hyd and 1/2 quart with trans, did,nt save.
