I was putting some stone walls in to terrace some slopes in my yard. While using my BX23 BH to cut the sod a couple of inches down I felt somewhat uncomfortable when I had to move the tractor ahead to cut the trench due to the slope. First off, I increased the air pressure on the downhill rear tires, kept my out riggers close to the ground if I had lift off ( Hoping this may avert a roleover) and extended the backhoe towards the uphill side for added weight. I was surprised at how this helped in keeping the platform a bit more stable.
I was then able to extend the outriggers form the driver position to level up again and continue the job.
Anyone else here ever try this? I know its not a recommend practice, but definately reduced the sphincter factor.
Job complete.

Using the backhoe as a counterweight works good for me, you just have to remember not to forget it....I find that in rough country the hoe often drags when in its folded position so I swing up the dipper stick, then back into a tree with it....
