Greetings one and all,

First time poster here. I'm new to tractors and found the site a while back and noticed the ebook for sale. I didn't bite right away, but soon came back for the solid foundation I knew it would provide.

I finished reading it recently and thought Muhommad would appreciate this feedback. I am pleased with the information and the time this book saved me in getting started.

My only issue was that I was hoping to get a brief comparison of tractors to Bobcats, the advantages and disadvantages. Other than that, I am very pleased with the book.

A couple of other comments:

eBooks vs. printed books - They are entirely different products. eBooks are great because they allow the average person to get 'published.'

It's much nicer for us readers to be able to read the work right away. But reading at the screen will never really compare to reading a book.

I can empathize with Muhammad in the difficulty of getting a printed version done. I have an online CAD course I teach and it's quite time consuming to create the course. Once completed, like an ebook, the work is done and life is good again. Then someone asks for more, or the next version, etc. and it's back to the grindstone!

Here's a suggestion for the non-PC guys & gals out there who have access to ebooks they may want to read:

Look into a PocketPC.

They are neat little devices that allow you to read ebooks (even in dark areas), are very handy for a number of things like calculator & calendar & notes. They are simple to operate (get a little help if you need to, it's okay) and very portable. (Fairly costly, depending on how fancy you might want to get, but I've shown mine to many a non-PC person who immediately went out and bought one. Mine is fairly fancy and was about $500)

Thanks to Muhammad for getting the ebook out, and to all the other contributors here.

Cheers, Bill~

PS - I posted my review here because after composing my thoughful comments in the fancy online feedback page listed at the end of the book (http://www.tractorbynet.com/comments.shtml) and hitting the submit button, I got a Page Not Found page. Grrrrrrrr! :^)

Welcome to TBN Bill! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I stumbled onto this site pretty much the same way that you did, and I've never looked back. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I would add one other aspect to using the e-book. I ordered it, and then I printed it out and put it into a 3 ring binder. Certainly there is the added cost of the paper to print it out and the toner in the printer to be considered, but I didn't think that it was all that much.

But now I have a book that I can take with me if I'm so inclined. Otherwise, I can pull out a page, or a section, or one of the checklists and make copies if I want to. I've also continued to add to my version with my own information that I've acquired as I've been researching tractors.

Just another way to use the information. I do believe that a hard cover version is in the works and due out reasonably soon.

You sound like you have a pretty strong background in computers. If this is the case, I think you'll find that your knoweldge will be a welcome addition for many of us "computer challenged" folks! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Look forward to your participation. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks Garry,

Of course once you do print out an ebook, it becomes a book, so to speak, and therefor completely changes character. But it's still an excellent suggestion, and one I would recommend also.

Yes it does take time and resources, but hey, then all those pesky drawbacks to the ebook format go away, right? So then either the problem is surely 'worth it' for those folks, or they are overstating the problem (or they're just plain fishin for something to complain about! Sympathetic, aren't I?)

And yes, am a computer geek, but no, won't help you. : )
just kidding...

Me too - had access to a color laser printer at work and it turned out great.

I didn't have access to a laser printer, but I did print the book on my own printer and put it in a 3-ring binder like you, Garry.
