Does anybody know what size bolts go into the welded in nuts that are specifically placed on the ROPS of a 2005 TC29? These mounts are apparently intended for mounting the bracket for a rear work light.

Thanks

I posted the same question about a year ago and I never got a workable response. What I did was to use a smaller diameter size bolt that fit inside the existing welded in nut. I have not had any problems with this setup. I do not remember what size bolt I used, but any bolt that fits within the welded in nut should work. Jay

What you could do is go buy some vaious bolts that look to be about the size and thread that might appear to work.
Get one of each and take them home and try them out.If one of them is the correct one take the others back for a refund on them and get however many of the correct one that you need.

I started to go that route, but when it became apparent that there are SAE and metric bolts as well as fine and gross threads I went the simplest and less aggravating route. The welded in nuts on the ROPS were somewhat off center and the welds themselves obstructed bolt/machine entry. I also had to consider the 20+ mile drive to town. Jay

I haven't checked, but I have had mine out and they look like the metric equivalent of 7/16 inch coarse thread English, which might be M-8?? That's probably wrong, but it might get someone who knows better to correct me.

You could always use a tap & die set to "fix" your nuts. :D

"Long and thin will get you in" nutwise as it relates to mounting those working light brackets :D! I have not had any problems with my "solution"- Jay

Actually according to NH the bolt size turns out to be M6 x 16 8.8. I got some 6 x 16 bolts and they worked after taking some effort to screw them in. I think this was because the inside of the nuts were somewhat rusted. Anyway it worked and the rear light is now mounted with the $46 NH bracket:eek:

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

I used a magnet light for my rear worklight. It's got a 55W Halogen bulb and sticks anywhere, including the ROPS. I have a long cord for it so it can be moved anywhere on the tractor. I can even stick it on the shredder or any other implement to "shed light" on the 3-pt hook-up as well as attaching the PTO shaft. Plugs into the 12v plug-in behind the seat. These are cheap, portable, and the magnet is extremely strong, so it won't rattle/vibrate off. My uncle said the light is expensive and the bracket even more expensive.
