Hi folks,

Looking for a supplier selling bolt on edge for Kioti backhoe bucket. Searched web and have found anything specific to Kioti. My dealer states he purchased one many years ago, but unable to locate information. Anyone fabricated their own?

Thanks

The steel is usually harder than normal to handle some wear. Does your bucket have holes that you need to match to or will you have to drill? Mine didn't have holes so I hunted around at various tractor dealers to find the best price. I then drilled the bucket to match the reversable cutting edge.

Vic,

I don't have the bucket at this time. It's ordered with my CK 35 HST. Did you make your own or buy a bolt on?

Thanks for your response. New to forum. Should've posted this question.

This is a slip on but you need to drill one hole on each side.I believe I purchased it from a dealer named Carver or Carter in N. Carolina, was a dealer here on TBN.

I have a bolt on reversable. I ended up at a Kubota dealer that sold everything from a riding mower to excavators. He had a bunch of various size bolt on edges on a rack. The steel appears harder than normal dimension steel and I'm not sure how you would grind or cut the bevel edges that are on each side which makes it reversable when one side wears out. Also, the bolts holes in the steel are square and have a bevel counterbore so when you use the matching bolts, (sorry I don't know the proper name for these bolts) the bottom side is flat. The edge and six bolts were $100. All I needed to do was mark and drill the front edge of the bucket and bolt on. It wasn't to hard to drill the bucket edge. Started with a 3/16" drill bit and then a 1/2".

Devildog's post with the slip on edge looks good if you ever wanted to remove and install a tooth bar. Some members use their tooth bar all the time which has the extra cutting edge with steel cutting teeth added. I don't know what kind of work you're doing but members advise that a tooth bar really allows the bucket to cut in and dig better. Here's a few sites for tooth bars: Tractor Bucket Bolt on Tooth Bar
Tooth Bar | North American Implements

A member advised this works well and it's a like a cutting edge and tooth bar combo: BXpanded Piranha Tooth Bar

Just some ideas to look at.

Vic and Devildog,

Thanks for all the great information. I'm looking for what's called finishing or cutting edge for the backhoe bucket. Don't want to purchase a separate ditch cleaning bucket.

The FEL bolt-on's you've shown me are interested and I will consider as well.

Sorry, I should read closer. I guess my brain just thought fel bucket and didn't see BH bucket. I used a smooth edge bucket once and it leaves a nice smooth bottom without tearing up things that are there. I haven't seen anything like what you need on any web site or even locally.

What I have done before on industrial sized BH and excavators when we needed a smooth cut was take a grader blade and weld it to the teeth on the excavators and backhoes using just a 7018 rod with a fillet weld on each side of the teeth. When we finished and prior to sending back the rental machine, we just ground off the weld metal.
I suppose you could just take the whole thing off at the teeth and put on new teeth if you wanted to go back to the tooth finish, saving the blade for when you need it again. I never had one break and they got pretty rough with some of them.
You can get old grader blades from county maintenance for free most places and new bucket teeth should be that expensive.
