I replaced the hydraulic filter on my Bolens GT2000. I can't get all the air out of the system. When the system is cold I have to keep turning the steering wheel from side to side before the tractor will move. After the air in the system moves everything is fine. Tried bleeding at the filter but no luck.

You need to find the suction leak, and fix that to eliminate air

Thank you for your reply. The only part of the system I had open was the filter when I changed it. I park it on concrete and there are no signs of a leak. It sounds like the air is in the power steering cylinder or the acturator valve. By turning the steering wheel back and forth a number of times will allow the tractor to move. Once I am able to move it is fine until the next start up. It wasn't broke so I should not have fixed it.

I have the same tractor. I have the same issue. The small engine service where the tractor was purchased says that this is normal. If you want to get away from that then I should replace the hydraulic fluid with synthetic oil, something like 0w-50 or something like that. Anyway, I didn't do that because of the expense. I just run the engine at medium throttle for a few minutes until I can hear the hydraulic pressure kick in and then go. I read your post hoping you had a better answer than mine.
