Hi everyone,
I have already posted this here under the the Iseki form. I thought I may repeat it here where other readers may see it for added input.
Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Hi Everyone,
I have a Bolens G214 with a Model 17660 60 inch mower. I have been having issues with the mower gear box shearing the woodruff key for the primary drive pulley. I replaced it shortly after I purchased it three years ago. It was fine till a few days ago when it sheared the key twice within half an hour of each other.
I'm trying to find some info on the mower gearbox. What are people running in them for lubricant? The manual specs our EP 90. This one seems to be partially filled with light grease. Is that a common practice or post production modification? The gear box turns freely and doesn't seem to show unusual looseness or wear. The seals seem to be in good shape and seem to be keeping the grease in. Has anyone needed to locate parts for one lately and how successful have you been?
I am a little suspicious that the gearbox may be slightly undersized for the application. Has anyone modified a deck for a slightly bigger gearbox?
Sorry for all the questions. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any feed back.
Best regards,
Howard
