Hi all
I am having major difficulty starting my newly aquired bobcat 835. It ran perfectly for a day but when i went to start it today there was nothing.
When the ignition key is turned, it beeps as usual but fails to turn over. The display shows glo 5 briefly and then returns to the normal running hours display screen. Have tried a new battery but no luck. When the ignition key is turned a faint hissing sound can be heard, sounds like a fuel pump? I am new to these machines so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Tim.

Don't know a thing about those machines. Are there any safety shut out switches like a seat belt switch or restraining harness? A door switch or clutch pedal switch perhaps? It could be something as simple as a loose connector as well.

Most of the time when someone posts about this problem its just a loose or corroded connection. Start with the battery post connections and then the wire leading away from there.

Make sure your PTO switch is in the off position.

Thanks all for the quick replies. I suspect it is indeed a poor connection somewhere, the problem is finding it, any ideas? i dont think my machine has a pto fitted but if it does i dont know where the switch is? I dont think the machine has any safety cut out switches apart from the swing down bar. I had it running fine a few days ago.

The swing down bar is the name I couldn't think of. Check for the wires to that. If that don't work check your battery cables themselves. You said your replaced the battery but what do the clamps themselves look like? I have had to kick myself in the backside a few times for "assuming" that they looked good enough. Only to find out later that the battery clamp was not doing it's job. Then check where the battery cables attach to either a starter or solenoid. Also pull off the negative cable and clean it's connection. After that I start pulling apart connectors and reseating them. That machine of yours is a bouncy little ride which will rattles connections apart. Or if it has been around dampness those connections will oxidize and corrode even when they are still plugged into each other.
