Boat fuel connections..

I am building an extended fuel tank for my Honda EU2000 generator and have a question..

I am considering making it a duel connection so I can fuel mine and my dads generator if needed.. I am using the brass male fuel connections and the plastic female fuel connections so i can connect/disconnect it easily..

Does anyone know of if I use it with only one generator will the unhooked connection be airtight?

Or should I build a sets of hoses, 1 for single use and 1 for two hookups..
