So I ordered my block heater today for my 18 Ck3510hse . How hard does the freeze plug come out and what is the best way. I did order it from my dealer so I hope it goes in good. I did buy a lower hose heater but it doesn't look like it would fit well. The hose is only about 6 " long and not much room between the exhaust pipe, heat shield and radiator hose.

I pondered installing a block heater and came across this video. I suspect it will be a similar install process for you.

Too bad the the frost plug in this video was not already threaded.

Let us know how it goes and please share some photos.

Thank you , I 've watched this video, seems to be the only one on tube. I'm just a little Leary of removing the freeze plug. I guess don't want to screw up.

Yea, I am about the same.
Many older TBN'ers may remember a thread on a freeze plug removal that went bad.....

Ended up tearing down a almost brand new (Bota I beleive) completly down to repair it

Removing a freeze plug is not the problem.
Installing them is the problem.

Does your block heater completely replace the plug?
Is it press in or the rubber type that you screw to expand?

DO NOT USE A POWER DRILL TO ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THE FREEZE PLUG

I got the block heater installed today, we have a young man in town who repairs diesel trucks where he works. He is very methodical in what he does so 2 hours later and 80 bucks later all it needs is anti freeze and a couple of tyraps. I need to let sealant cure at least 24 hours. I will try and post pictures tomorrow.
