John Deere 2210
I have a John Deere 2210 and got a price for a block heater at the dealer. They quote out at 120 bucks. I am thinking about installing inline hose heater instead for cold days in the winter. Has anyone done this to their tractor?

I am thinking for making some wearpads/plates out of nylon or nylatron for moving snow on my blacktop driveway. I am thinking of doing this because of wear on bucket and wear to the driveway. My son had a interesting idea to installing 4 small wheels on the side of the buck also. Comments, ideas, and your a dumb#@% welcomed!! LOL

The inline heaters work well and are usually not to difficult to install.

As for wear pads -- it's a discusion I best stay out of.:D

I knocked out a freeze out plug on one of my tractors and installed a 750 watt element that cost maybe 30 bucks.

Welcome to TBN :D! I could not get a block heater for my old Ford 1100 so I installed an inline (return) hose line heater. It was a tight fit, but it worked really well and the
inline heater only cost around $24.00. Jay

Can you split a piece of PVC pipe and add it to your blade edge to keep it from scratching the blacktop and prevent wear? Would be replaceable too.

I installed a KATZ #14500 lower radiator hose heater in mine 2 years ago. Took about a half hour to install. Works great. I have it on a timer to come on 2 hours before I get out of work. Starts right up and is up to temp. in no time.

Thanks guys

jbrumberg, Thanks for the welcome! Where did your get your inline heater? Seem to running almost 3 times that price here.

QRTRHRS, did you use just an automotive heater?

kubotabilly, Niiiiiiiiiiiiice one there!:D Now I have to make do with a unheated 7 barn cat landmine deploying stinkers!:D That is for another subject.

Billbill, That is a great idea! That might just work with the float mode on the bucket!

I do have to give a big thank you to this site. Buying a tractor is a big investment and can be quite confusing with many to chose from. This website was very informative in that decision.;)

Inline heaters are generic and come in different wattages and sizes. Something in the order of 300 watts should do fine.

A little dish washing detergent on the ends makes them slip on easier.
They should also be directionally and vertically oriented. Instructions will give that information.
