What do y'all do to keep from getting 8th degree burns when you sit down on your tractor after it's sat in the sun for more than a minute? My seat gets so ridiculously hot, that if I hop on with shorts on, I actually get burnt. It almost makes me wish I had a Deere with a yellow seat. :D

I've been keeping an old white shirt on the seat to keep it cool, but I'm not really into having loose materials just hanging around like that. Perhaps there are aftermarket seat covers for the BX24 (new seat style) that I could shop for.

My seat folds up. The first thing I do when I get off of it is lift the seat. I folds over the steering wheel, so the part you sit on is now shaded by the backrest. Works like a charm, but you just have to remember to do it every time. I do the same with my ridealong lawn mower. Unfortuanltey, my backhoe seat doesn't flip up and I have to park it in such a way as to keep the seat shaded from either the roof or have the sun shining on the back of the backrest to shade the seat.

In my earlier years of owning jeeps without roofs, I used to keep a towel on my seat and even found sheepskin seat covers to work really good. Don't know about the seat covers for a tractor, but a towel always worked. I also use the towel for my fourwheeler.

Never get out of the seat.

I've found one of the biggest challenges in own a tractor is knowing when to get off it and use a shovel or a rake. :) I took a week off of work to finish a paver walkway and some steps. The first day was 90% seat-time while I excavated, graded, and spread stone. The next day was about 20%. The remaining days were all under 3%. It was really rough spending so much intimate time with shovels, rakes, mallets, etc.! It was on these days that I kept burning myself when I'd need to go fetch another scoop of sand or stone.

If your seat is getting that hot when you get off then you must be sitting in the sun to. Get a shade for the both of you. :D

I should add if I did this, everyone would see my key. Even in front of the house the key goes under the seat. But as mentioned I have a shade!

I can second this. Prior to getting my canopy, I encountered this quite frequently. I also park my tractor under a carport now and that makes a big difference.

And in the winter time you start the tractor and turn the heat on and wait five or ten minutes before going out to use the tractor.

Oh, I remember when you were one of us and had to suffer the pains of owner a cheaper tractor...............dog you.

I have a confession to make. I didn't know the seat on my BX24 flipped up. I didn't think the spin-around seats did that.

I kept the seat flipped all weekend and didn't burn myself once! :D Thanks TBN forum!

Sheepskin seatcover is the way to go. Then you don't even need shorts.
