I bought a BX2200 this weekend. For those comparing prices, this is what I found on a BX2200, turf tires, FEL, 60" mmm: tractorsmart $12,250 FOB, Carver $12,315 delivered, local $12,200 delivered plus tax. I went local and got the grill guard (which is sometimes included w/ the FEL quote, sometimes not) and bx2200 shop manual thrown in. Also picked up a KK 48" tiller for an additional $1000.

The dealer started much higher, but relented when I told him I would buy it out of state if he didn't get competitive. Well, he didn't get as competitive as I wanted him to, so I guess he was a better salesman than I was consumer, but we made a deal.

BTW, he had one bx22 on the lot already sold. He said this was his 2nd delivery and it was sold b/f it arrived. He said he was selling them at list and wouldn't be alloted as many as he thought he could sell. So I guess the bx22 will be a hot ticket item for a while.

Sounds like you got a good deal...its not always necessary to get the absoluete lowest price IMO. Much better to feel good about all aspects of the deal etc.

Have fun.

It may not have been the greatest deal, although it sounds O.K. to me. But it DOES sound like you've developed a good relationship with your dealer. He now knows that you're not a pushover, but also that you're reasonable. In the long run, that's just as important as the tractor. Congratulations!

It was the cheapest price you had listed BUT, it wasn't cheap enough ......unbelievable! Ya' know local guys can't help it if you have to pay tax.....it's not optional!

I just bought one today, too. A BX22 with LA210 FEL w/toothbar, BT600 Backhoe, 54" MMM, the new BX series 48" King Kutter Bush Hog, and Filled Tires for $ 17,200.00 delivered to my door (plus 4.5% VA Sales Tax on top of that). Out of Byrd Tractor in Manassas, VA

Based on the recommendations of this list, I went to Carver for a quote and he declined to sell (or quote) to me the BX22 based on the fact it's too new. He told me in an e-mail they won't sell them to Weekend Warriors like myself until they've been field tested for about 6 months and reports are in on them. They want only 100% satisfied customers and his opinion is that Harry Homeowners tear this equipment up due to improper training and operational skills. Oh well.......I thought it odd but it's his business and he has his reasons.

I too, went local with my purchase. I could have saved the sales tax (in theory, but VA can always come back and bill you for it if they check shipping logs, etc.) by going across the river into MD, but my local dealer had a decent price on the package which beat the MD dealer's price do the sales tax issue only made it a few hundred more overall. Plus, I kept readind on these forums....DEALER-DEALER-DEALER. And my local guy seemed much more eager and helpful than the MD dealer I called. A couple hundred bucks on a $ 17K purchase is no big deal if it means I'll get decent service down the road.

This is my first foray into the 'real' tractor market from Garden Tractors and I literally poured over the posts on this list for guidance. Triple aces to all the folks that post info here, it really helps.. A LOT.

My BX22 should be here in a week. Byrd Tractor said he had an additional unit coming alongside it if anyone is interested.

Apparently from what he told me, Kubota is not releasing these to the dealers for inventory, they MUST be pre-sold to a retail customer.

I can hardly wait to go dig some holes <grin>

Congratulations on the purchase. Post how you like the setup. Only 7 more days until I pick up mine - BX2200, MMM, FEL. With these latest posts I'm starting to feel like I'm the only one without a tractor! (I did get a Kubota hat from the dealer today though.)

Duane, sounds like a fine package. One thing I'd like to know is just how your warranty reads. A dealer told me that Kubota headquarters was contemplating the normal warranty for home use only and just a 6 month warranty for any other use. At that time, he hoped the dealers would be able to get them to change their mind, but I'm wondering how it turned out. Carver may have a good reason for not wanting to sell to anyone not in his service area. I actually expect them to be fine durable machines, but after all it is their first year and some bugs may have to be worked out. Buying locally should ensure a good relationship with your dealer and IF anything should go wrong (though I doubt it will), I'll bet it'll be taken care of pretty promptly.

I am sure Carver has his reason whatever they really are. I imagine there is something to the "Harry Homeowner" tearing up equipment and not knowing how to use it properly and maintain it and having expectations of durability or power etc that are unreasonable. This would pertain to all such equipment and not just the BX. Another thing, since most of the people on sites such as this have some mechanical background, we probably assume everyone reads the manuals, services their tractors properly and uses common sense, I would not assume that is the case.
I also cannot imagine that the BX22 backhoe is much different from the B4672 A or their line of mini-excavators, I think Kubota knows what they are doing.
I saw one of these units being deleivered to some lucky new tractor guy, it looked great.

A guy at work said that if I don't get a hat when I buy my tractor, then I got ripped off! After all the paperwork was done, I asked (and got) a hat, a t-shirt(whichj I didn't ask for), and a diesel can.

Here's a BX2200 at the dealer I just bought from.
