Looking for first hand infomation from anyone who has bought a reconditioned tractor from Don Romrell at Big Little Tractors in Sugar City Idaho. I am considering purchasing a reconditioned tractor from him. I have found several people that have said they have talked with him and seems like a good guy, but no one that has actually purchased a tractor from him. The reconditioned market can be difficult to navigate, and I am looking for as much information as possible on the front side.

Thanks for any help.

Reconditioned can be a hard thing. Thats not to say this guy or anybody else sells a bad product or its a bad deal. But often time reconditioned is a good wash, fluid change, and new rubber, looks like new so it must be like new. Guess you would have to understand what was done and checked.

For just a few thousand more, you can buy a new tractor with warranty. Even a slightly used newer tractor is much better value than the re-conditioned tractors from Japan (most of which they are selling) that usually only contain a paint job. I bought one of those, Yanmar 4220D, and while it was OK, I had to do a lot of flushing of the hydraulics to get the clay mud out of it. FEL was incapable of keeping the bolts tight in it also and would shear them off occasionally. Engine was OK and didn't use oil but had no glowplugs to start it in cold weather

No personal experience with this company, but you should read up on gray market machinery prior to purchasing one. The general areas of concern are parts availability, and service. If you're wrenching yourself not a problem.
When I was shopping for my first machine years ago the local dealer of the US equivalent machine would not touch a gray market tractor.

Even if wrenching yourself, parts availability is huge.

I remember seeing somewhere on the net, pics of a place in Japan having hundreds of small tractors. A container load of those would probably be pretty cheap.

I'd look into the EPA regulations on any grey market first. There used to be a lot of grey market dealers around. A few got shut down due to EPA clean air act. Other thing besides parts, the throttles are backwards from USA spec along with other safety features. Due diligence first and foremost!

What’s the problem with the tractor you have now?
