Big Bee Rotary Cutters:Anyone know about them?

Looking at Big Bee rotary cutter. Anyone use them, know about them. The price is somewhat less than the woods, bushhog, Rhino, but seems to be built nicely. Any help? Looking for pull type.

I have had a “Big Bee 38” (maybe it should be called a mini bee) for a year now. It have used it a lot with my Kubota B5100. It has seen some rough use mowing tall grass, weeds and a lot of saplings…. Plus a lot of sandstone and stumps. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif So far it has held up very well.

I have tried but been unsuccessful at bending or breaking any thing on the Big Bee 38 yet /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. It does a nice job of chewing up anything I can run over with the B5100. Of course my lack of success at tearing it up may be due to me only having a B5100 to do it with /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

The label on the cutter it’s self says it is made by:
Metal Manufacturing, Company Inc
Tremont, Miss.

Hi Slippy,

I'm assuming you're looking for a rotary cutter for your 6000... if so... make sure what ever you buy... the A-frame is super strong on the implement...

That's one of the first things that will fail being "yanked" around by a utility tractor of your size...

So, # 1 it must pass the durable A-frame test... otherwise pass on the unit and keep looking... (no matter how the rest of the unit will be)

Good advice, but I'm not sure what an A frame is. Is it the deck itself or the frame of the mount? I am probably going to go with the pull type to save all the hp I can for cutting, so does that change the A frame issue? Also, thanks for the info on manufactures. Are you impressed with the Hawk line of cutters? I see they are in Ohio. I am going to have to have a Big Bee shipped in from out of state, but the price on the 10' deck with chains is $3750. Also, if you know, how important is blade tip speed. I have seen the specs which vary from about 13000 to 15000. Does that make that much difference?

Checked out all the web sites that have been suggested, Midwest, etc. Don't see anything in a 10' cutter. Any other suggestions? I also looked at the Kodiac cutter, but can't seem to get one brought to me at a reasonable price. I can get a Woods or Bushhog brand for about $1400 more, but from what I have seen of them and read, they may not be as good as some of the others. Finding a 10' cutter is not as easy as a 5' or 6'.

Curtis Howard Equipment in London Ohio .
I have been to his place and impressed with his inventory. He mainly is a distibutor, but has done retail sales for me.

I have no idea what a reasonable price is for something that size, but Agri Supply seems to have pretty decent prices in general, and they carry the 10' Kodiaks. Are they one of the places you looked?

Those are actually IMC brand (International Machinery Corp) and are missleading as advertised as "IH" International Harverster--We have sold those in the past and they are decent cutters--however safety chains and other options are difficult to obtain from mfgr for the IMC cutters--I was told by a source close to the company that Several IMC employess recently resigned or quit and some are helping startup the "Hawkline" brand of equipment--Ken Sweet
