I have been in the market for a finish mower and had desided to go with a 6ft rear discharge mower and I wanted to purchase a King Kutter brand for the cost and durability. But it looks like King Kutter doesn't make a rear discharge. I have found what I am looking for in the Big Bee brand, and it's by far the best priced one I've found. Brand new for $940. With that being said I know you normally get what you pay for. Does anyone here have any personal experience with this mower?

Thanks

Can I ask why you want a rear discharge and what other ways is it discharged? I want to buy one and I have seen many people swear by a rear discharge , I have'nt figured out why yet?

Also check <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.buhler.com/sitefiles/index1.htm>Buhler/Farm King</A>. I have a 5' rear discharge and am quite happy with it.

Putty, I like the rear discharge for a few reasons. The grass is scattered around so there is less of a windrow. It doesn't matter which direction you mow your lawn (on a side discharge, the orientation of the tractor with reference to the "cut" and "uncut" portion of lawn becomes important). And, to me, it just makes more sense to discharge that way, rather than the mower having to "carry" the clippings from one side of the deck to the other.

Putty, what Paul said is correct, and in addition with a side discharge, you have the chute sticking out the side, which can get in the way when you're manuvering around trees and such. A side discharge is much easier to use, and is less likely to leave windrows.

I agree with Machinedoc1.....I have not seen the Big Bee but did a bunch of research on finish mowers, King Kutter, Woods, LandPride, J-Bar, Sovema, Caroni, and several more I cannot remember the names of at the moment...

I am taking vacation tommorrow and picking up a new First Choice 6ft. finish mower... Reasons: They are built in Italy.. just like Sovema and Caroni however, are designed by and built to the spec's of a fellow that was associated in a senior postion with King Kutter.. He left and decided to design his own, eliminating various design flaws or failings....His company is HQ in North Carolina and he is opening an assembly/whse in Illinois. I spoke to several dealers who handle these and they said they are far and away the best they have seen in the $800 - $1000 dollar range for 5ft - 6ft.... I happen to be buying mine from the Hoye Bros, Stan & Wally... They carry them in Wichita Falls, TX, and the Villisca, IA, location.. I'll be getting mine in Iowa...

The Woods and LandPride are very nice but a litte pricey for me... Sovema was very light duty looking.. J-Bar was pretty poor quality and rough.... The key to these are the gear box.... The design has to minimize stress so they do not wear out....and basically weight and strength.. the First choice has a 3/16 inch deck and plating which makes it solid. Second reason is I have an Iseki.. I wanted a blue mower to match... All 4 of my needs were met, quality, price. color and rear discharge.. just like a car I guess...

First Choice makes them in IH-Red, AC-Orange, New Holland-Blue and I think maybe Deere-Green... Also, the First Choice are all rear discharge for the reasons stated above, which I most heartily agree with.... Happy cutting, it will be here before we know it....
