I've copied this from the Attachments Forum in search of added insight.

So, it seems somewhere between 2007 and 2008 kubota L4400s changed...the post-change tractors are L4400DT-1. I learned this lesson the hard way by taking my 2007 4400 to the dealer so they could install a backhoe subframe. This summer I found a practically new BH92 backhoe with hydraulic thumb and two buckets for $6K. Everything I read and everyone I talked to (including the dealer) assured me the BH92 would work with my L4400. It seems the subframe that fit my tractor is no longer available. I made a trip to the dealer today to see the differences myself. Looks like fairly significant fabrication would be required to make the subframe for the -1 tractor work on my tractor. So potentially, I have a really nice BH92 without the ability to hang it on the tractor. The dealer said the older hoe and subframe were built by a third party supplier (ASI?). For now he is trying to come up with the company who manufacture the backhoe and subframe spec'd for pre-2008 L4400s (the BH90A) to see if a BH92 would fit the frame that will fit my tractor (if the frame is still in production/available under some other label). A question for the group: can an owner of a Kubota BH90A measure the vertical and horizontal dimensions between the 4-point attachment locations? Thanks. Dave

when I got back from Iraq I traded in my L3400 for a L4400. I have been tossing around the idea of getting a back hoe for it. Now I been looking at some ones on the internet and the question I have is will ones from Liberty or Woods back hoes work or is this subframe on my 2008 a deal killer?

It evidently depends on whether your L4400 is the updated model or the older one. Hopefully you have a knowledgeable dealer who can get you linked up with the right subframe.

By the way, thanks for your service. Always proud of our veterans and appreciate their service.

Hello, maps. ^ I'll echo Grandad4s advice - work through your dealer to get the right bits and pieces to get the mounting for your sub-frame set up right, so you can start using that hoe the day it arrives. About a tear ago, my dealer (John Rebillard, over at R&S Torrington) used the internet, the mountain of 3 ring binders he has in his office, and a lot of phone calls to people he knows at Kubota to sort out the attachment fittings required to mount a BH92 to my 2007 L3240. It was worth the wait and when my tractor came back from their shop, everything worked and fit up perfectly. I think 2007 seven was a transition year, as there was no -1, -2, -3 nomenclature when I bought the tractor. By the way, it's a great backhoe that goes on & comes off in about 3 to 4 shakes of a lamb's tail.
Hope you get it all sorted out - let us know how it goes.
Jim

Still holding out hope for a Kubota solution. Chatted to my dealer today and he may have a lead on a subframe that has been sitting at another dealer's lot for quite some time. Otherwise, I've talked with a couple fabrication shops who are confident they can make something work. Will let you know. Dave
