Ive done some land clearing with my TC-33. Its easly twice the size of your little JD. Even with my tractor its a chore. Do not expect to do much with your loader. CUT are poor poor substitutes for buldozers and a SCUT even more so.

Id stick with a brush hog for the light stuff and your hoe for the bigger stuff. A box blade with rippers will be much more effective at root and small stump mitigation than a tooth bar will be.

FYI a 3" stump of a sapling is enough to bring my 4000lb tractor to a screeching hault when pulling the BB with the rippers down. Sometimes i can pull them out with a combination of 3pt lift and low gear 4wd pull with diff lock. but its not an easy task for the tractor and often requires mulitpull attacks from various directions.

Your JD will lack the weight, and traction for serious pulling/pushing. Stick to the cutting action of a decent 4' brush hog and the ripping power of your hoe to get most things done.
