I have read alot of posts on here, and have been amazed at the wealth of knowledge displayed here. I hope to gain some advice as to what the best time of the year is to buy this new tractor!

I am interested in buying a TC40A with FEL in the near future. I know the 0%/60mth special just ended, but I (excuse me, the wife said we..) need to wait a couple more months to buy it! I originally set my eyes upon the TC35A, as my father in law has one and I like it. It has a Woods FEL I believe. At any rate, I talked to a local dealer and he had some "valid" sounding reasons to go ahead and get the 40hp in lieu of the 35hp. I have a couple of spots I will need to bush hog, finish mow, box blade, and of course dig a hole if I need to. I would appreciate any advice ya'll might have. I am not in a huge hurry/need for one, but we have just about paid off enough bills from getting married last year to start getting serious about buying a tractor. Thanks for your help!

There may be individual dealer's incentives to discount any time of the year, but prior posts on TBN hold that there is no difference, in general, in price over the four seasons. You may find a larger selection in spring. Also, the "year" of a tractor's manufacture isn't relevent. A "new" tractor and a "two year old" tractor of the same model, same hours, and same condition will be priced the same.

That may not always hold exactly true, depending on the region / dealer.

Our local dealer generally discounts any 'last year' models -slightly- to provide incentive.

Lease returns, as well as replaced rental machines also get a decent discount.. as well as plain out customer returns, or low hour trades.

In areas where tractors see seasonal usage.. some times you get discounts.

For instance.. mowers may be cheaper in the winter... etc. Again.. I think it's a case by case scenerio..

Thanks for the info, I didn't know if there was a "general" trend with the dealerships offering better deals during certain times of the year or not.

buy new or used?
if used ....fall?

after he has sold all his new units in the spring and taken tradins for most and has a lot full of used tractors he wants to unload before winter and wants the cash out of them (they are all cash) so hes willing to deal more on used tractor that he gave the guy half of what hes asking in trade in.....

I am looking at getting a new one schmism, I will have to finance it and would rather have a new one for no more difference in price than what a later model used tractor will cost.

I guess I will keep my eyes/ears open over the next few months to see if they do any long term 0% options again. I really won't need to mow with it untill next year as the drought has just about took care of the grass...

I need to study up on finishing mowers, rotary tillers, etc some anyways and see what the local dealers offer and how they compare $$$ wise. Thanks for the info!

I found that some incentives arent necessarily listed. For instance I got $1300 for supplying my own money (cash, nonNH financing etc.) plus an additional $300 b/c I was buying a TN75. If I had bought a TN70 I would have gotten an additional 300 or 400 price break. I dont recall any of this being advertised. I also know that $300 evaporated midway thru the process. That was b/c the negotiation/equipment search spanned month boundaries. In the end I still got the $300 b/c I started when the incentive was in force. You might want to check back somewhat frequently b/c 'things' do change. It wasnt clear though whether incentives change monthly or ??? Im sure someone else knows more about it than I do.

Another answer to your question is 'before you need it', ie there may be a lead time involved. I discovered what I wanted was all located in TX and CA. No one was signing up for trucking costs so I had to factory order. That delayed delivery by > couple months. If I had known all this I would have started sooner. I needed a tractor and mower last month.
