Ill have to measure my tractor but with the tires dished out I believe the width is about 52 or so. If the 48" is the right tiller that's the way I will go. If that's not the case I am thinking a 54" tiller would be good. I am trying to find someone in the Northwest who will sell me a King Kutter 48" or 54" xb tiller. Anyone?? Bueler? Bueler?
I don't know if you can change your footprint width, but that Tractordata.com published 44.7" width would seem to indicate that you can.
You might try calling the KK factory, and asking who their dealer is in SEA, or if they have one.
If stability (uneven ground) is an issue though, you should probably leave your wheels at max spacing, and get a tiller that covers that width.
If your wheel width is greater than 48" you should definitely NOT buy a 48" tiller.
Some tillers are available with an offset, and I believe that the 48" ones are the most common with this feature.
The offset usually is about 4" or5", so a 48" tiller would be offset 4" or 5" to either side.
That should be plenty of width for your use. Depending on your soil conditions, the 48" offset tiller might be the best match up for the amount of PTO power available with your tractor.
Check out the Agri-Supply website item #77709. That is a nice looking 48" tiller ($1095 + ship) with a 4" offset ( good reviews also)
That might be a good tiller for you, but I do not know if you could somehow get one shipped to AK.
The 48" offset tillers sold by Agri Supply are the "Caroni" brand, and are made in Italy. Perhaps you can find a Caroni dealer in SEA.
By the way, for what it is worth: The Agri Supply people are wonderful folks to deal with.
