opinion on bad boys rotary cutter vs. Modern ag galvanized

I thought you wanted "best", and that wouldn't be either one of those choices...

If they are like they used to be the Bush Hog brand would get my vote . I bought a new Everything Attachment rotary cutter and after 3 years or so the paint is peeling off in sheets , no undercoating at all . The very old Bush Hog paint stood the test of time just a little faded .

I bought a Hardee brand cutter 35 years ago. It has done everything I've asked from it and it's held up even after sitting outside all those years. I did have to replace the PTO shaft after hitting a stump and welded some angle iron across the front this year due to some rusted out places. The original paint is barely visible but you can still see the writing on it.

That is why I'm not a fan of powdercoating.

John Deere, Land Pride, Bush Hog. Any one of those three. Possible Woods if the deal was right.

I would and did take the Woods over those three!

Especially after all the blown deer, gear boxes on theirs!

Out of these two, I would go with the Bad Boys mower. Reason is I hate welding galvanized steel and at some point that might be needed. I do like some of the things I have read about Modern Ag but the galvanized is a deal breaker for me.

Best brand overall would be BushHog or Woods for me. The latest models of both put BushHog in front for me. Woods seems to have lowered the quality a bit and raised their prices. That is just my perception, not fact.

I live about 20 miles from Hardee's plant. Not sure the exact name now but slight change as Mr. Hardee sold the company few years back and the family bought it back few years later. Here believe the majority or red either Bushog or Hardee. My father in law bought a medium duty Hardee about 30 years ago, has held up very very well. Have Bushog finish mower and very pleased with it also and Bushog ZTR. Local Kubota dealer here sells a lot of Kubota tractors but unless they have stopped in last few years sell a lot of the Hardee cutters.

The video on the badboys shows the chains for the chain guard being fastened by one long cable? Is that going to be durable in the long run? If the cable breaks, all of your chain pieces fall off VS if each chain is bolted on with it's own bolt or a solid rod.
