Best Hydraulic oil to use in New Holland

What would be the best hydraulic oil for a T2310? This will be the first oil change and I was looking at the AMSOIL Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil, what are your sggestions? Thanks for your time,

Since this is the first oil change; I assume this unit is under factory warranty; make sure any oil you use meets or exceeds New Hollands specs. Personally; I always used New Hollands oils while unit was under warranty so there would be no argument that any failure was a result of the oil. New Holland oil kept the problem within New Holland and did not bring another party/company into the mix of resolving an issue.

I would stay with Ford/NH 134 untill warranty is up. Delo 15-40 is great motor oil. All fire departments around here use it. Engines are holding up a lot better, even with me driving them.

I have an 06 Kubota L3400 4x4 HST, I changed to Amsoil at the first recommended fluid change, the engine also. You will not regret it ... but I am partial to Amsoil. My GMC Sierra has it in engine and tranny and rearend. It is in my atv, my lawn mower, my generator every thing I own with motor has
Amsoil in it. Waiting for change time to put in the ztr hydraulics.
You will get extended run times and superior lubrication. For the money we
have to put in equipment now days .. Its worth the money.
Just my 2 cents

I don't want extended change times on oil that needs to be removed to get rid of acids and moisture on a change schedule.

the flow and film characteristics might be nice though..

Todd, if you are approaching the 50 hour service. There is no recommendation to change the hydraulic fluid. This change is only for the filters according to NH's maintenance schedule. The first change interval for hydraulic fluid is at 300 hours. If you are at 300 hours, I would sure use NH 134D or NH F200. You will find that when you remove both sump drain plugs, you'll only drain off about 7.5 to 8 gallons. You will probably have plenty of oil if you buy a 5 gallon pail and a 2-1/2 gallon pail. You don't need 10 gallons. However, if you are going to do the front differential and drop boxes, you'll need more fluid and 10 gallons might come in handy. Just be sure that when you refill the hydraulic reservoir, you put in about 7.5 gallons and run the tractor for a minute and then recheck the level.

Also, it's really easy to prefill the new filters before installing them, and I recommend it. This will ensure there are no air pockets trapped. This goes for both the main hydraulic filter and the HST filter.

Here's a suggestion for making your hydraulic oil change easy. Find two empty five gallon buckets and double line them with tall kitchen trash bags. Drain the oil into one until it gets 3/4 full and then slide the other bucket under to catch the rest of the oil. You can't get it all into one bucket. After you have all your oil drained and the oil change done, you can pour the old oil back into your empty containers using a funnel. Then, just remove the kitchen trash bags and dispose of them into your normal trash. That way you have clean buckets and you only put a slight amount of oil into the trash, probably less than your monthly cooking oil disposal.

I just changed the transmission oil in my Kubota L3000DT at a little over the 400 hour mark as suggested in the manual. The oil I drained out looked really good for being almost 8 years old. The thing that caught my attention was the condition of the strainer type filter when I removed it, it was pretty loaded with metal particles.

I priced the Kubota oil and it was $15.00/gal. for their UDT, the Super UDT was much more. I found that Amilee (sp?) has a product called Ultra Trans 245 that meets or exceedes the specs for both the Kubota UDT and Super UDT as well as several other brands, New Holland, Cat., John Deere. The price of the Amilee oil with my discount at the local auto parts store was $9.50/gal.

I understand the concern of using another brand of oil while under warrantee, I had the same concerns. I think most dealers would not question a warrantee claim as long as you used an oil that was better than the original brand. I found out the Kubota dealer I went through used a Castrol product for engine oil changes instead of the Kubota brand, so they make substitutions also but may not tell you.

Think again. Times have changed and a lot of dealers are looking to make money anywhere they can. My dealer tried to deny a warranty claim on my tractor, that took them over 3 months to figure out, because I had red fuel in it.
I bought my fuel fresh every month from the same supplier they got theirs from too. BUT my transfer tank is filtered. They use a barrel that is also used when they have to drain the tank on tractors. If fuel was dirty they did it.
They also tried to deny warranty on a leaky hydraulic o ring saying my oil was contaminated.
Probably from having my tractor for 3 months in their shop again trying to figure out why it wouldn't stay running. They told me they hooked it to several implements to load it and let it sit running.

I'm going to switch hydraulic fluids this month too. I'm looking for the right one to get and considering amsoil. I'm not paying what our local dealer wants ever again.
