Finding the "best" HLVP paint sprayer seems like finding the "best" TV, or whatever. My search has produced what seems like a thousand different brands, models, and prices. Every one rated "best" just seems to happen to be the one each seller carries. There are no unbiased recommendations.

All I want to paint is my porch, perhaps my disc harrow, and a few other items, none of which requires a professional grade $1000 paint sprayer.

Can you suggest a good, relatively inexpensive all-around paint HLVP paint sprayer please? Better quality than the $19.95 HF sprayer but under $500. Obviously I trust the opinion of fellow TBN'ers a LOT more than the barrage of ratings I find published by sellers.

Many thanks.

I was buying Princess Auto (Like HF) ones on sale as cheap as possible. I settled on the gravity fed type as I was spraying enamel and did not want to dilute it, and loose the shine. The gravity fed ones, suck heavy enamel a bit better.

Then, I went back and tried to buy the integral filter. They had none, so I said it's useless to me without filters, and they happily refunded my money. They have a moto, "no sale is final"

Yah the HF HVLP will be fine for your tasks. FYI- decks typically get done with airless sprayers- but an HVLP will be fine (maybe slow) if you get everything masked well.

Agree with the above, you need an airless sprayer.

For the money, something like this is probably a decent option. It has great reviews across a lot of sites and forums. Not saying it is commercial quality, but very good for what it is designed to do.

Looks like it's actually cheaper at Home Depot right now as well.

Your other option is to look for something like a Titan Impact 340 or 440 used (new are around $700 and $1000 respectively I believe). I bought a 440 used for $300 on CL and bought a $125 pump rebuild kit just in case. Works like new and it better quality for sure. Not sure you can get rebuild kits for the Graco, but it's also a lot less money. If you buy used, ask them to prime it and spray (with water is ok) just to make sure it works.

Your local Sherwin Williams will have the Titan's. Other paint supply stores might as well.

We repainted our house with an older version of one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Graco-TrueCoat-360DS-Sprayer-FlexLiner/dp/B07F3Q5CH1

It worked very well.

Good info! Looks like I was about to bark up the wrong tree. Almost all of my painting will be with latex. So - airless is the way to go, eh?

The previous posters are correct. You don't want an HVLP spray gun for those projects.

A Graco TruCoat will do your projects with ease.

There are more expensive versions, and cheaper versions to match your budget.

Start with smaller projects until you learn to use it, and learn to control the over spray.

If it is windy, and you are not careful, you can get paint on things 50+ feet away. So, cover up things, and get vehicles out of the area.

One reason I would not go with the TruCoat is you will have to keep filling it and it becomes heavy. The one I linked will be much more pleasant to use and you can add hose if you need to get a lot done without moving the unit itself. It's not a lot more money if you have much real painting to do at all. For an implement the other may be ok, but if you want to do decks, fences, house, etc, there is no contest.

I used to do more paining of equipment, but even then, I never wanted to deal with the issue of trying to clean a hose. I even did try an airless Wagner system once, and had a special fitting machined so that I could use cut-off 2 litre pop bottles instead of the tray. So much, do I dislike cleanup.

I don't remember what happened, but it clearly irritated me enough to result in this. DSC00713.JPG
