Best Guess for PTO Shear Bolt

My OEM Wallenstein grade 8 shear bolts have a grove around the bolt. That is where the original bolt sheared. These OEM shear bolts are $8.75 each. At the Kubota dealership.

To heck with that. I use grade five machine bolts and they shear just fine. No smearing - just a simple break in the bolt.

The only time I've sheared a bolt - chipping old, dead, age hardened apple tree trunks. Man - did they ever give the chipper a work out.

In a few more days this will be 6 years old. Just the other day at the
post office a lady was saying it only took 4 months to get her letter. I
can remember back in the 70's that it only took 1 year for this lady to
get her letter on the 7th of july as it was post marked 7 july the year before. Paul Harvey had a great one when the post office sent out letters
to all the businesses in the area wanting them to come and see the dema-station of how their new equipment was a lot faster and would mail the mail delivery quicker well all the businesses got their letters the day after
the demo.

Well - - IMHO - what does your Chinese Op manual have to say about the shear bolt. I've had three implements with shear bolts - 3-point snow blower- Grade 2 Wallenstein Bx42S- Grade 5
Walenstein BX62S- Grade 8. Sooooo.........what do I know.

Stick with grade 2. Its there to save the gearbox no matter how much power is driving it.
