I just finished mounting a Older Allied 300 Loader on my '72 FORD 4110 Tractor and I Need to replace the front Tires which are 7.50 x 16 inch but I'm really on a low budget and so I was wondering if I could or should consider mounting 16 inch Truck Tires instead of the standard rib tractor tires ? I thought it may work well and obviously me cheaper. Any ideas about what Tires, if any work BEST for Loader use and also Your Thoughts on using Truck Tires too. Have anyone here ever done that before? If So what are the Pros or Cons to using Truck Tires??
Appreciate your advice, Thanks, DanO'

SIDE NOTE : The O and the I are worn off of my Keyboard and are side by side too , so I often screw up the spelling as I did in the Title of this Forum... Sorry /Bout that.

If you switch to VERY wide tires like 11.00x16,,, your tractor will thank you.
the steering will be EASY,,, compared to narrow tires.

We discovered this one year when the loader tractor had a flat.
We "stole" a tire off the silage wagon (the silage wagon had flotation tires), and the loader became so easy to steer,,,
that we went out and bought two new tires and wheels.

I've Never heard of that size before, dose that translate to 235 or 245 :16 in a Truck Size , or what?

R4s are generally considered best for loader work, but since it's a 2wd drive old truck tires should work fine.

The 11 inch tire is common on bigger tractors and hopper wagons. Get yourself some old "E'' rated truck tires and you will be fine.

Your tractor looks to have fairly large flotation type tires on it now. What size are they? They look to be more than capable of handling all the FEL can lift or at least all that you can move with a 2 WD tractor. Without a very substantial rear counter weight, you will just spin in your tracks with much weight at all in the FEL.

Truck tire size that would fit is somewhat dependent on rim width... If you have a 7" rim, a 265/75R16 or 245/75R16 would be good. A little wider rim and the 245 may be a bit narrow. A narrower rim, and the 265 would be too wide...

Either way, I'd think a fairly worn used pair of tires would also be easier to steer than a new set with lots of tread, unless you put priority on steering in mud, in which case some Chinese mud tires off Ebay would be just what the doctor ordered... :)
