So... putting up a 24x32 pole barn and it ended up being on more of a slope than anticipated. I’m curious as to what sort of economical recommendations there would be to prep this for a concrete slab. My plans were initially to only pour a 4-5” pad using fiber infused concrete. I’m just not sure the best, while least expensive way, to get this ready. As you see from the pics it runs between 0-16” from front to back of the building.

I would take out the grass, level it with gravel and make a gravel ramp back to ground level out the door.

Yup, take out sawd and topsoil, backfill and shim with something like item 4, tamping it in layers as you grade.

Talk to your concrete guy for his recommendations. He will suggest what you need for you to be happy with him & his work for years to come.
If he's not too expensive, have him do it.If you fill it and have troubles, it's on you as he'll blame the sub grade.

So is it best to remove the sod or can you just kill it and put the gravel over it? I don’t have a skid steer and might be a little difficult with my tractor. Is there any need to fill all the way up to the top of the skirt boards or can you just add additional skirt boards to the bottom where it’s above grade and just use 4-5 in of gravel to level?

Not sure what size item 4 is but I was thinking of something a little smaller than 57 or perhaps crusher run b/c it compacts really well. Not sure what you mean by shim either...

Yeah, he is supposed to come look at it this weekend. May have the gravel hauler come out in the meantime and get his thoughts as he does excavation as well and I hear he’s really reasonable.
I agree it would be best to have the concrete guy prep it but he lives quite a distance away and does this on the side so I’m not sure it would be feasible for him to do it.

All sod and organic will need removed. Many concrete guys do not want to place embankment.
Gravel crusher run(304 in Ohio) will be a good base for concrete.
You can use variable depth for concrete slab.
It is easier to build barn on all ready leveled pad, then it is to level pad after building is built

Top soil must come out

Yupp, topsoil is garbage structurally. DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON THIS STEP. The concrete looks good, but the subgrade does all the support work. Poor subgrade=failed concrete.
